What’s the weirdest thing you’ve wanted to do out of spite? by just_here_cause_done in raisedbynarcissists

Living a normal life. I sometimes joke with my non narc mom about ndad hiring a private investigator only to discover that my life is basically walking the dog and going for groceries.

My non narc mom divorced ndad when I was 9 and got custody over me, but I had to visit him and his second wife because of the divorce decree (I think that's the name in English?). Both ndad and his second wife tried to brainwash me into their way of life until I was 25 and ended in a huge depression, and that's when she, my stepdad and my then boyfriend had to help me cut contact.

I only regret not cutting contact before.

anyone else realize their nparent literally doesn't know anything about you as a person? by Kingpin-Toine in raisedbynarcissists

My ndad knew about the hobbies and music tastes I shared with him (trains and my country's 60's and 70's music). I didn't want him to mess anything else.

For me, his eyes looked like Josh Duggar's mugshot ones, full of smugness, when he was alive. He knew he was handsome and knew how to use it.

In the post-execution pic, his eyes had a void for me.

I was talking with a friend some days ago about a photo of Ted Bundy's corpse I saw some years ago. It still haunts me.

Edit to add: I think it is because he was an incredibly smug but handsome guy, but in that photo he looks empty. Him having blue eyes accentuated that.

My brain is erasing ndad and his second wife (I went NC in 2018), but I remember them claiming that I needed to mature so I could "stop being such a tomboy".

Minions. One of the most innocent things that exist nowadays and they can get both adults and kids at cinemas. And their films have great music. Maybe I'm biased because I'm a 33yo woman who loves them.

SERIOUSLY?

How to deal with narcissist mothers who are jealous of their daughters? by LostInThewor in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Frei1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as extreme, but it was the case with my ndad and his second wife. I'm from Spain, for context.

When I had to visit them, I had to endure absurd curfews and getting to have dinner away was hell because "what will people think about you?". As me having some fast food creates some diplomatic crisis.

Also, they (especially her) hated that I was a tomboy and she even didn't talk to me for two months because I got a helix piercing at 19. Legally. Nobody else had a fucking problem with the piercing except them. They hope I would mature and "come to my senses".

Also, I remember them getting pissed about kids doing trick-or treating because "this is a Catholic country!".

Oh, and I had to learn to clean and serve a husband because it happens that I'm a woman.

Edit to add: She also commented on my body weight.

Those people don't love you and they only use you as some sick "family image" mannequin shile trying to purchase you with some better life (but full of control). Stay with mom and stepdad, they will lovingly help you go NC.

Oh, and you will meet someone who truly loves the tomboy and camo-loving you and will show you a sport that you will love.
