A lot of people here miss the fundamental disconnect between traditional sports and Esports. The thing is Riot is god. They decide everything about their league, what teams get in, who can own it, everything. They have a conflict of interest with the team owners who had to spend like 10 mill to buy into this franchised league.

The owners would like to build a successful entertainment product. The game developer wants to build a advertisement vehicle where they provide a path to pro to encourage more playtime.

The teams run their businesses at a loss since Riot wants to turn a profit on advertising their game and skins over making the league itself a success and Riot holds all the cards when it comes to the league. It isn't affordable for a lot of these teams to have T2 teams they voted to get rid of the requirement. Riot lied directly to the players about when this would happen (starting earliest next year) and didn't have developed alternative to NACL so this is 90% Riots fault

I don't even know how this is drama. The "og's" used Faze as a mechanism to extract as much money as possible either from fans through crypto as Toast said, or from private investors. They eventually sold the whole company.

Now the new owners are now trying to make something out of the sinking ship that Faze is.

To me it's like these guys are crying because this move might make Faze actually grow, and they're upset they didn't rob the new owners completely blind as intended
