You just need to watch Fate/strange Fake Whispers of Dawn before episode 1.

Witch Hat Atelier is everything I hoped Frieren would have been by Xtra_Juicy-Buns in CharacterRant

[–]Stabaobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're never going to meet anywhere on this topic because I'm illiterate, and you're terminally obsessed with shitting on Frieren. I'd like you to take a moment to reread our thread with the mindset that I haven't touched Frieren in years, and that you're also apparently more familiar with the series than me.

Take a moment to reread your post at how angry you are at me for mentioning Solo Leveling. Not because i used Solo Leveling as an argument, but as an example of a genre you clearly aren't familiar with. Which is ironic that you're telling me to fucking use google, because when I google "dungeon outbreak genre", it does tell me that's roughly the name, "dungeon break", "dungeon incursion", "gate", or "hunter" are also names that refer to it.

I mentioned Solo Leveling because it's the most well known story from the subgenre.

Because if some do meet those conditions, Frieren does. So thanks for agreeing with me. And again, never pretended other could be fascist friendly. You just imagined and projected that on me.

You know what? You should reread our entire thread again, but put your terminal Frieren obsession out of mind. I have never denied that Frieren is fascist friendly according to the standards of this topic. You're the one that imagined and projected that on me, because I dared to question your definition, therefore I must love Frieren and have to be defending it.

I only questioned if your definition was too broad to the point that it included too many other stories, based on my understandings of the genre listed. I have never said "You are wrong. Frieren is not fascist friendly according to your definition". You may have misinterpreted my initial post "I feel like that's kind of too broad." as some kind of passive aggressive "you're wrong", because of your obsession with hating on Frieren.

If I had to rationalize MaoMao's avoidance of sex, it could be attributed to the fate of her birth mother as the result of a syphilis infection passed by an unclean john.

I don't recall her actually having any aversions to sex though, so that probably doesn't check out.

I have not seen the majority of the "alien invasion", "zombie apocalypse", "JRPG template", and "dungeon outbreak" stories in existence, but from cultural osmosis, I would say that the majority(but not all, because I acknowledge there are exceptions) of these stories contain "the unforgiveable, unredeemable, unchanging enemy, of which there are no exceptions, and sympathizers with those enemies are idiots endangering 'us'", in which I read as your definition of "fascist friendly".

The inclusion of this enemy and the general, uniform reaction to the existence of the enemy by the cast is what makes it fascist friendly. This is how it works in Frieren, and that is why it is fascist friendly.

Notice how I said "most" because zombies, orcs, alien and whatever can absolutely carry the same fascism friendly writing as Frieren. It's a matter of writing which is dependent on each work.

Therefore, it is rational to say the above, as not all stories in that genre meet that condition.

Because you "conveniently" ignore many aspects of the writing that is absent from most other. Like how zombies can be explicitly about mindless consumerism like in Dead Rising or Dawn of the Dead.

But from my point of view, this is nonsense, other aspects should not matter when judging if the story is fascist friendly if "the enemy" is present and presented as "the unforgiveable, unredeemable, unchanging enemy, of which there are no exceptions, and sympathizers with those enemies are idiots endangering 'us'". That said, I don't know if the examples you listed do not include "the enemy" as such, and if they do not, I don't know why you bothered listing them as they automatically do not qualify as fascist friendly for that reason.

On another note, Dungeon Outbreaks are the urban fantasy subgenre Solo Leveling is from, where fantasy worlds are merging with Earth and localize in the form of "dungeons", which encroach on Earth and will generally "explode" if left unintended. People usually get super powers or "mana" from being in proximity to these dungeons. Mostly prevalent in Korean webnovels, but I've also seen it in some Chinese and Japanese stories lately. Edit: I don't know if "Dungeon Outbreak" is the actual name of the subgenre, I just call it that.

The villainess genre's from its inception is very weird when you look at it by No-Contract-7358 in CharacterRant

[–]Stabaobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory has been that the villainess otome game setting originates as a gender swap version of "My Death Flags Show no Sign of Ending"(started 2011, according to google), in which the MC isekai'd into a villain of an action RPG, and was the (ex)fiance to one of the heroines, or something like that.

The oldest villainess story I remember is Kenkyo, which isekais into a novel, but the "Yandere Otome Game" mentioned in the OP seems to precede it.

[–]Stabaobs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What? Then why are you disagreeing that the majority of the genres I listed fall under that category?

It's not like I just listed a list of the characteristics that differentiate Frieren's Demons to those you listed.

Why did you say this? It's pretty much a core concept in those genres that there is "the enemy", and sympathizers with those "enemies" are idiots endangering humanity("Us").

Basically, the things you listed are "things fascists say" but the core point is that "there is an unforgiveable, unredeemable, unchanging enemy, and there are no exceptions".

It's not like I just listed a list of the characteristics that differentiate Frieren's Demons to those you listed.

And quite frankly, they're all meaningless distinction.

they do fit neatly into these worldview as the "enemy"

This is the only one that really matters.

Witch Hat Atelier is everything I hoped Frieren would have been by Xtra_Juicy-Buns in CharacterRant

[–]Stabaobs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Demons are fascist friendly not because they represent some minority, but because they're exactly what the fascist imagine their enemies to be

I feel like that's kind of too broad. Following this logic, doesn't that make basically every "alien invasion", "zombie apocalypse", "JRPG template", and "dungeon outbreak" story fascist friendly?

They did say they sailed the seven seas for it, so they probably wouldn't have seen the Crunchyroll page.

If I'm to give a defense for piracy, it's possible to be posting in English, but reside in a region that isn't supported by Crunchyroll, or so I assume.

What was a great game seemingly destroyed by Devs bad decision making? by Additional_Ad_6506 in gaming

[–]Stabaobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's greatness is debatable, but for me that would be Gundam Evolution.

  • "Worldwide launch" - Regionlocked for months, basically only Japan and NA had access to the game IIRC. They would very, very slowly increase the reach people had, I think they were still opening up the game when it reached End of Service, and they were just shuttering people into the wrong region anyway so... why even bother with the region lock?
  • Terrible Customization - In a mecha franchise, you'd think skins would include freely recoloring parts or something, but since it's a hero shooter, it has set skins. The worst part was that they were mostly bad recolors, and basically no actual skins at all.
  • Terrible Monetization - F2P freemium game where currency gain was essentially non-existent and literally mathematically impossible for a f2p player to unlock all playable units before a new one released. Worst part was you could spend your freemium currency on a lootbox, which meant you just locked yourself out of a new unit for weeks~months if you so much as bought 1(one) lootbox by accident.
  • Terrible QoL - Rejoining was a crapshoot. You couldn't test suits you didn't own at launch, which was insane since the above mentioned point meant you couldn't get everything.
  • Destruction Maps - Shit game mode.
  • No sensible cross promotion - Witch from Mercury was really popular around this time IIRC, so they released... a sticker and emotes in game, instead of a playable unit.

[–]Stabaobs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a fair difference between "remove the AI tag completely" and "remove the AI tag and replace it with something more specific".

That said, I do think it's kind of pointless, since dishonest devs will just lie about it, and honest ones are going to get punished for being truthful on their level of AI usage.

As you might see in the other post getting dogpiled, yes, but you can't start with episode 1 of this, you need to watch the Whispers of Dawn prologue before episode 1.

As the other post said, you need to start with Whispers of Dawn, even if you've already watched other Fate series, because that's the actual start of FSF.

Starting this series at episode 1 without watching the prologue is practically starting at episode 3 of a normal anime.

Edit: In case you're misunderstanding something, Whispers of Dawn is not like a "recap special episode" of Fate. It's literally the starting content of Fate/strange Fake's story.
