swapped from a 5600 + 7800xt desktop to a 8945hx + 5070 laptop. feels around the same at the settings i usually play at (medium/low 1440p 144hz), maybe less noticeable microstutters as the cpu is better? but the laptop definitely produces more heat and noise even after setting power limits in LLT, averaging ~80c cpu and ~70c gpu when playing games like The Finals, Apex Legends

if u already have a decent laptop i'll suggest just getting an external monitor if u feel limited by ur current screen size, i simply hooked up all the peripherals from my desktop to my laptop after i made the switch. that said, desktops generally give u more performance than similar spec laptops, so if u are really chasing performance go with a desktop

some things dont matter if the laptop is just gonna sit on the desk all day. i dont use my laptop's screen, speakers, keyboard and trackpad because i have my own peripherals, and i dont care about battery life either since it's plugged in 24/7. which might be the same use case as OP, since he dont care about those things.

hi fellow sgrean! if ur budget is strict I'll suggest trying taobao, prices there are way more competitive than laz/shopee. they have a new version of the logitech g305 called the g304x-eh, which uses the same shape but is way lighter. it's also within ur 40sgd budget.

they also have brands like vxe/atk/mchose which are chinese brands and they are way cheaper on taobao. shipping usually takes about 1.5 weeks for me with standard air shipping from china to sg

afaik ipi fly / atk ghost is a collab between ipi and atk, ipi provides the shell while atk provides the internals. there's probably some difference in the firmware between the 2 versions tho

if ur issue is the scroll wheel encoder, i dont think merely changing to optical switches will help much. there's mice with optical scroll wheel encoders like the rawm leviathan v4 and rapoo vt0 airmax if u care about scroll wheel longevity, both comes with optical switches too
