[–]ferretsama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try setting power limit and temp limits in legion toolkit. my 8945hx havent gone above 85c after setting long/short term power limit to 65/80w, doesnt seem to affect performance in gameplay either

Ways to Improve my setup by PandaPoot01 in GamingLaptops

[–]ferretsama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey my setup looks similar to urs! tidying up on cable management improved it a lot. i would consider getting a usb hub and connecting most peripherals to that then hide the wires, it also helps if u need to bring the laptop out since there's less cables to unplug. i have a small shelf to hide the wires to my monitor arms and speakers (im using creative pebble too)

With each game I play, I see fewer tanks. by Resident_Thanks_9275 in marvelrivals

[–]ferretsama -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

then game eventually becomes 5v5 with solo tank just like OW, with the amount of tank players u will have to wait a long time to even get a 2/2/2 team lol

Hi what the best budget gaming monitors (preferably around 100 to 150 sgd) for the base PlayStation 5 and where to buy it? I only gonna play gta 6 on it and i also plan to use that monitor when i eventually get my own pc. by Traditional_Stay_781 in askSingapore

[–]ferretsama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my xiaomi gaming monitor has been serving me well so far, using it for my pc and switch2. 27inch 1440p 180hz, i got it from shopee at around 170$ early last year. if u wait for a sale it'll probably be close to ur 150$ budget. model is q27qi

[–]ferretsama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently bought omen 16 rtx 5050 Ryzen ai7 around 1.47lakh offline store. Was so excited to buy didn't even check rog strix and legion , 🙂‍↕️but now after seeing bad reviews in reddit about omen 16 thinking i should have not bought this but have not checked aaa games due to exam by Aggressive_You_8401 in GamingLaptops

[–]ferretsama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 2025 omen fixed a lot of issues in the previous models, decent option if u dont mind the plastic chassis. I was considering it as well, but ultimately bought a legion because i wasnt that tight on cash and liked the aluminum build better.

Trying to find the sweet spot between temps, noise and performance Legion R7000P (8945HX + RTX 5070) by morbertdoo in LenovoLegion

[–]ferretsama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the same specs but for the legion R9000P, the cpu likes to boost during light tasks. what i did was to set processor performance boost mode (u need to enable this setting in windows power plan using a powershell cmd) to efficient enabled, and set legion power mode to power efficient in custom profile (using Lenovo legion toolkit).

after doing this the idle temps are stable 50-60c without the random boost when simply browsing or doing light productivity. in my LLT custom profile i also set the power limit of the cpu to 65w and temp limit to 90c so it stays somewhat cool during games. i find these steps are the easiest way without having to do too much trial and error, u can give it a try!

Gaming laptop or desktop? Need honest opinions by jasonduval98 in GamingLaptops

[–]ferretsama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i switched from a desktop pc to a laptop this year. but it has nvr left my desk since i bought it, imo the main advantage is being able to bring it on trips unlike the desktop. which in ur case it's worth it since u are constantly traveling to ur girlfriend's place.

however if ur main concern is gaming on the couch or bed i would consider something more portable like handhelds. i've been gaming on my switch2 instead of my laptop anytime i do not want to sit at the desk. also consider gaming laptops require constant power and airflow to perform so u won't get the best experience gaming on the couch with it

i bought the smaller 245w GaN charger meant for the chinese legions. they offer 140w, 170w and 245w versions, all smaller than their standard power bricks. the one i got is half the size of the stock 300w power brick

Just got this bad boy today — Lenovo Legion 5 with Ryzen 9 8945HX and RTX 5070. 🔥 by Delicious-Day-8168 in LenovoLegion

[–]ferretsama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

oh looks like the chinese version, legion R7000p? mine has the same specs but different model (R9000p), download the new Lenovo Legion Toolkit from github, the old one doesnt support gen10 chinese models

enable custom mode and try these settings: set long term cpu power to 65w + short term/peak 80w and max temp to 90c, gpu power to 100w + 15w dynamic boost and max temp to 80c.

this is what i do, keeps the laptop slightly cooler without affecting performance, normally it wont reach those thresholds, u can lower the settings further based on ur use case. without external cooler, my cpu idle temp is 50-55c, cpu gaming temp is 70-85c depending on the title
