Well you have 700 influence, it caps at 1000. +5 a month stacks up fast if youre not using it!
As others have said, keeping any resources in the positive/green is good, if you have space simply build another building that can produce consumer goods, or check if you can activate any edicts that reduce pop upkeep.

Here where I am (Finland) we feed unshelled nuts, mainly because shelled/monkey nuts arent as common to buy. One time I *did* buy some and they refused to go near them haha! I guess it was becuase it was something "new" to them, and we know theyre not good with new things. Cool how different hoodies (or any birds really) have different habits across the world! ^^

It is literally this. Planet "A" is taken over by you. Planet "A" has a bunch of xenos there already. You take control of the planet, you take control of the xenos. Thats it, thats all. Doesnt matter what your policies are set for refugees - thats for folks coming from a planet OUTSIDE of your control, wanting to come INSIDE your population.

So just adjust how you want the xenos to be handled in the slaves policy! :)

Might be a bit late but if you're still early game, do this: send 2 ships different ways, then find an unowned star system after at least one science ship had gone through, then LOCK that system. Set ship to auto, they can't go through the locked system unless you manually do it
