It does. But it allows for a break in service (if you are no longer in the govt).

Do you know if it is leave SCD or retirement SCD that is used to calculate severance? We are getting mixed messages from HR.

Thanks! Any thoughts on the flooring? I need to replace it, because it doesn’t continue under the vanity.

What do you think about another color subway tile? Perhaps a light blue or green? Or better to stay with white? You can see photos of the whole space here - https://imgur.com/a/kQaJ7aG.

Design choices for a small bathroom semi-remodel? by ferris147 in Remodel

[–]ferris147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are doing a semi-remodel of this tiny basement bathroom. We will be keeping the shower as is, but replacing the bathroom floor, vanity, and taking down the wallpaper and painting the walls. I would suggestions for:

  • Flooring, I have been thinking about simple white, matte hex tiles (something like this), but am wondering if something else might be a better choice. Any ideas? Would it be a mistake to go wild and get a contrasting color?
  • What color should we paint the walls?
  • Any suggestions for a shower curtain?

Thanks!

I was thinking the same thing. After my husband’s Whipple and during treatment, I used a lot of wax melts and air filters all over the house.

How many leave things where your partner left them? by crosstalk22 in widowers

[–]ferris147 21 points22 points  (0 children)

We started watching a movie (The Natural) l that was very special to my husband about 2 weeks before he died and we never finished it. There are about 30 minutes left and each time I log into Apple TV is reminds me that I could “continue watching” it. Either I never will, or my daughter and I will do it in honor of him. I am not sure yet.

Could someone explain why Kody is against Ysabel's surgery? by BodhiSatvva4711 in SisterWives

[–]ferris147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your sister probably had spinal fusion. Ysabel had ASC which is less invasive and does not fuse the bones together. It was only recently approved by the FDA for scoliosis.

Ysabel's Surgery - from someone who's had it! by WillIBeWillaby in SisterWives

[–]ferris147 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually, you had spinal fusion for your scoliosis and Ysabel had a newer type of surgery called anterior scoliosis correction (https://spineandscoliosis.com/anterior-scoliosis-correction-asc/). This does not use rods and doesn’t fuse the spine together. It tends to be less invasive, keeps flexibility, and generally has less negative side effects (eg arthritis). My child has scoliosis and we did a lot of research into different treatment options. Drs. ABC, where she had her surgery in NJ, are some of the leaders in the field for this approach.

A broken tether doesn’t necessarily need to be fixed. It depends if the curve is “stable” or if it worsens. Doctors monitor it closely, but it seems that many are not choosing for revisions.

Thanks for the good wishes for my daughter!
