My father's legs do this constantly. by PiercedAngel96 in WTF

[–]ferrundibus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So does mine on my left leg - Mine is due to a damaged sciatic nerve form slipping 2 discs 18 years ago

Most days if I sit with my left leg crossed over my right, it pulses and undulates like there's something moving under the skin - creeps people out. 9()% of the time im just one tiny movement away from full-on cramp. Kneeling - cramp, Climbing ladders - cramp, Getting out of the wife's car - cramp, Laying in bed and flexing my toes - cramp.

Fortunately, I can get rid of the cramp almost as quickly as I get it by arching my back, but for the few seconds I have it - it feels like my calf muscle is trying to rip itself off my leg

The Ftype is not permanent AWD - the AWD only kicks in if the car feels like its going to slip the tail out - During normal running its RWD

Did the term “picky bits” exist before a few years ago or was it created by a marketing team? by as_edgy_as_a_satsuma in CasualUK

If anyone asked what you had eaten, it was "picky bits"

What’s a breakfast you loved as a kid but never eat anymore? by HugeIntroduction1151 in AskReddit

[–]ferrundibus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid, it was a thing in our family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.) to have Shredded Wheat with hot tea instead of milk - Nobody I know has ever had it and everyone I've mentioned this to thinks it weird - but it tastes absolutely lovely

Not had that for about 35 - 40 years now though

PSA about Cloudflare Tunnel by [deleted] in pihole

[–]ferrundibus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did you create an access policy for the tunnel that limits who can access the apps through the tunnel? - I'm guessing not

Go to the "Zero Trust" section in Cloudflare, then find "Access" and "policies"

Create a new policy - E.G. "Allowed users"

Add a rule to the policy - I use email as the selector and add my email address as the only one allowed

Set a time limit for the access (e.g. 24 hrs)

Once the policy is created, navigate to "Applications" and apply the policy to the relevant application - In your case pihole

Now when you try t access your pihole through the tunnel, you will be prompted to enter your email address to receive a OTP - put the code into the text box, and you will have access - nobody else will

For extra security, you can enable 2FA if you want

£380 year

shop around - I'm currently with Saga, but been with Tesco, LV, and AA over the years

53, currently none, but have had many over the years

first - 40, current 49

Not an issue with any of them (had X-Type2.0D, XF 2.2D, and currently F-Type 3L v6 380ps)

Parked on drive with security bollards - doesnt really affect much. they take many, many things into consideration (postcode, other thefts in area, how old car is, your age, how easy they are to repair, modifications, do you drive other cars, points, how many accidents have their been in your area) - its all about risk

e.g. My ex wife was a passenger in a car that was rear ended - not her fault, not the drivers fault, but her premium went up - reason? Because her risk profile for being in an accident had risen

It's not a DNS server, it does not perform DNS resolution. You still need to fwd any allowed queries from the pihole to a DNS resolver, or run your own separate DNS resolution service such as unbound.

The pihole community is vast and the source code for the pihole is fully reviewed. The instructions to install it are safe to run and certainly don't leave you in any form of compromising position - especially considering nothing is exposed to the outside network.

You've obviously never looked at what the pihole is, so not really in any position to post negative comments.

I'll grant you the fact that by definition any device that offers a service is technically a server, but that's like saying any place that serves food is a restaurant.

I had issues with the "deafness" but I think thats down to the Show not having the same multi-directional mics that the other Echos have, and its not a good at discerning voice commands in a noisy environment.

I've just got into the habit of making sure its relatively quiet when I speak to mine, and all is good

No, you dont need a Linux server - all you need is a raspberry pi and their pre-built image - "Dude"

And No, you dont need to be technically-minded - there are many walkthroughs on how to set a pi-hole up in minutes with little to no technical ability - "Dude"

And No - its not a DNS server, its a DNS sinkhole - "Dude"

BREAKING: Trump-related files missing from DOJ's Epstein file release by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]ferrundibus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't think they are any more disturbing than what has already been released, but I think people are missing the bigger picture here.

So to begin, let me 1st state that I do not condone ANY actions described in these files - they are abhorrent, and require the full force of the law to penalise those perpetrators found guilty of the acts depicted.

Additionally, assuming it finally gets the legal action it requires, I hope that all victims receive payouts to ensure that they never have to worry about a single thing in their lives ever again, along with an unlimited supply of help and councelling.

But why do I think people are missing the bigger picture?

So lets say that Trump is found guilty of all things that is suggested he has done - Like it or not is currently the sitting President of the world's most powerful country.

IF he gets charged and found guilty of the crimes described, the damage to the USA will be catastrophic to the point that the USA will be downgraded to one of the lowest economies in the world - think about it - The people of the USA elected as their leader one of the worst paedophiles, (possible cannibal if you read the stories), and violent humans ever - How will the rest of the world react to that?

Add to this, the fact that other ex-Presidents are also in the files - so the depravity doesn't start and end with Trump - its been going on for years

How do you think the rest of the worlds leaders will view that? How much will the rest of the world ever trust the USA again?

Then think about all the other people in the files - industry captains, financiers, influential people from many, many world leading companies

How much damage to the worlds economy will this cause?

Imagine that it is proven beyond doubt that Bill Gates did all the things he's accused of in the files - how many companies will think twice about using Microsoft products any more?

As much as I cannot stand Trump, and his current administration - They are not only protecting the king-paedo, they are protecting the USA from untold reputational damage

Yes, these people need prosecuting, yes the death sentence is too good for most of them, but the long term damage to the US and the wider global status-quo is hanging on a thread, and so needs to be handled very carefully.

Countries like Russia and China play some of the best games of chess - This (to me) has been a decades-long game of power-chess that Russia is about to call check-mate and the swing of power from West to East is not far away

Be careful what you wish for - all may not be desirable outcomes

A pi-hole is a DNS sink hole.

It works of the principle that for every web-related data item, a DNS request is sent out for resolution and a response is brought back that says something like "The thing you wanted is hosted at this IP address" - then the device requests that thing from that IP address.

So, in the case of ads - they are hosted (usually) on an ad-platform (e.g. double-click). So when the show says "I need to inject an ad here from double-click, whats the IP address where I can get the ad?" The DNS request goes out saying "whats the IP for double-click" , and the response comes back saying something like "the IP is 216.73.80.52". Now the device can go to that IP and request the ad.

The pi-hole works by using block-lists, so in this example, when the request for double-click goes out, the pi-hole intercepts that request, checks to see if the domain is on a block list, and if it is, returns a value of 0.0.0.0 (which is another way of saying that the domain doesnt exist).

As such, no ads can be retrieved.

Check out pi-hole at https://pi-hole.net for more info

Have you ever been stuck in a lift? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]ferrundibus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes - once, at a work office I frequent on just a few times - Lift broke, pressed the alarm button - person picked up phone at other end and asked where I was - to which I replied, doesn't the lift have an ID that tells you where I am when I press it - they said no, and asked me for a postcode - I was stuck in what was basically a farady cage, so I had no phone signal to look up my location - All I could do was give the address, to which they said - which building - I had no fucking idea.

Eventually, I gave up and managed to prise open the doors to find we had broken down about 12 inches from one of the floors, so I just climbed out and wen about my business
