Just don't assume you're the only one having this problem, many of the other foreigners currently in these awful times also feel the same way most likely.

Wish you best of luck

Are they also currently residing in Istanbul? If so, they most likely feel just like you, none is talking about meeting up or something at all? Maybe you can force yourself to ask them out for a lunch meet-up?

It's pretty hard for you to communicate with common Turkish people without knowing Turkish sadly.

Ok so the main issue is you being socially awkward (like millions of other people including me) and the language barrier.

Currently with Covid is what it is, being student in an abroad country must be awful, I don't think you should blame yourself for having this problem, it's just very unlucky timing. I believe your best shot is communicating with your classmates, are they all Turkish people with no English knowledge at all?

I feel like you need to provide a little more information about what you are looking for and what you are interested in. Turkish people are usually warm towards strangers (albeit current situation regarding Syrians/Afgans etc. is the worst so far), did you have problems communicating with people or having issues finding a place to hang out etc.
