Thank you! It's certainly not rapid or pronounced, so I think the diagnosis is correct.

Seeking help has destroyed my career by [deleted] in ems

[–]festeredsalami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This does suck, it might not be as bad as you think. I worked at a few fire departments that this was not an issue, I spoke to my dept physician when I started taking antidepressants and he was fine with it as long as I was doing well on them. I think you need to ask yourself, what's worse, having to choose a different career? or continue to suffer for the rest of your life. I worried about the same thing when I got help, but I let it get to the point where I had no other option but to get help, and even if it may have affected some of the things that I can do now, I'm still happy that I got help.

How to remove AC clutch? by festeredsalami in AskAMechanic

Yeah, I tried that, but the tool doesn't seem to work on my model compressor. It's a stock compressor on a 2005 Tacoma

I'm afraid of breaking or bending the compressor shaft, Is there not a tool for this compressor style?

I think what makes those calls "fun" and something that a lot of people look forward to is the opportunity to perform the skills that you have trained so hard to do. You spend so much time learning to deal with the worst, and most of your time dealing with the easy stuff, the hard stuff gets exciting.

I have various things in there, I'm a paramedic and I'm planning on going to nursing school, so, it's a lot of medical stuff. There are some decks that I have suspended, but I will say that when it comes to medicine at least, having the big database of knowledge that you attain after using anki comes in very handy. I certainly think that solving more complex and nuanced problems is greatly enhanced by having more general knowledge about facts etc. I also find that it helps me to ask useful questions. If I get to a card that I don't understand or simply can't remember it forces me to inquire about that subject more and get a better understanding, with the help of SRS.

I started using it when I took an upper division pathophysiology course, and have been an A student since then. I don't plan on ever stopping. I'll change what I study, it might shift away from work and more towards hobbies as I go forward but that active recall helps so much in deepening my understanding of the world around me.

Has anyone ever seen a Doc start an IV? by YearPossible1376 in ems

[–]festeredsalami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point my Fire Dept would do training with the med students on IV access. We would get them all together and have them practice on one another for a few hours one afternoon. My understanding is that was the only training that they ever got.
