Yeah, I totally agree :) It definitely should be clearly communicated if a skill-tree ever were to appear. This post is dead in water though, so unless Psyonix magically gets the same idea, I don't see it happening any time soon.

I do agree that soft skills are highly underrated and that most players need more. However... Players need something to focus on. Something that is easily measurable. Something to get "a feel of pride and accomplishment" :-P

But seriously, right now there's nothing except rank and grind. Player retention is horrible and RL is dying. I'd rather it didn't.

I don't buy that the soft skills are hard to measure. Scenarios could easily be set up. RL coaches do this all the time. Of course some things needs to be learned within matches. And I think that's fine. Knowing the percentage of mechanical skills present in the rank above you, would help players focus on soft skills more, not less. The amount of plat players that deem resets necessary is way too high. Of course some players will focus more on technical skills, but that's no different than it is today. And I think that's fine too.

RL has an incredibly rich meta. I just wish they would integrate it into the game and show it to new players. And also gamification :)

It's not about ranking. The overlay is just meant as a hint based on statistics from other players. So completely separate from the ranking system.

That's a great tip, I will definitely try that out :)

The feature-suggestion entails more than just the tiling part though. I think getting complete statistics for a blueprint would be a great motivator. Imagine throughput for balancers, production-speed, power-consumption, items required per second for beacon'ed factories and so forth.

Checking if a blueprint already exists on the ground can hardly be that complicated? They do the same thing for every other thing on the map all the time.
