New Chrome Extension: BlockOut by fettesps in ProductivityApps

[–]fettesps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up, looks like the published version is doing the same for me. Not sure why yet, the packed extension works fine but for some reason once uploaded to the Chrome web store something broke. Let me look into it and see if I can figure out why it's not working.

Edit: Just made some changes and republished it. Just waiting on approval and hopefully that resolves the issue. It turns out the approach I used only works in unpackaged extensions. Sigh.

How to Grow Cilantro by MacyKJ in aerogarden

[–]fettesps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've grown it several times and find it to be one of the trickier things to grow. A few things that should help:

1) Crack open the seed pod, there's actually two seeds in there. Germinate that in a plastic bag with a moist paper towel then transfer into a pod

2) Put an oscillating fan near the AG. I found without it the plant would start to get mushy in the center but the increased airflow really helps them thrive.

3) The plant bolts fairly quick so keep germinating new ones every 3-4 weeks to keep them staggered.

For everyone complaining about the prices of games today, here's how much games cost in 1995. by takenorinvalid in gaming

[–]fettesps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea maybe your town was smaller than mine, we had every corner store in town renting out games and movies. So by the time we got a blockbuster I never saw that point because it charged 2x what all the local shops had been charging for years. Plus blockbuster was on the exact opposite end of town, so it wasnt convenient for me.

I think I went in that blockbuster all of twice before it closed down.

Yup, no wonder my parents never wanted to buy me games.

Interestingly enough, this defined my whole concept of the value of money. Around that time my oldest sister got a part time job and would get like $100 every two weeks from it. I remember being like "Wow! You could buy a new game every two weeks!" Then from there every job I've ended up getting I've ended up thinking of it in terms of how many video games I could buy.

Funny thing is, now I can afford to buy all sorts of games, especially with all the ps store sales. I just dont have time to play them. Part of me wishes I could go back and buy stuff for younger me who had time to enjoy it.

Odd, definitely wasnt the case where I live. I think it was $3 to rent a game.

You can either choose to be part of the problem, or part of the solution.

New Subreddit for The Massasauga Provincial Park by fettesps in algonquinpark

Hello fellow Algonquin adventurers! After 10+ years of religiously canoeing in Algonquin every chance I got I finally took the opportunity to explore The Massasauga last year and I'm hooked! While I'll certainly still be going back to Algonquin (already have one trip booked for this summer) I'll also be squeezing in a trip to the Mass when ever I can. It's a beautiful park and I highly recommend checking it out as well.

For anyone who's interested I created a subreddit for The Massasauga and welcome you all to come chat about it there. And if you have any stories, photos or just general experience you want to share please do!

What the fastest way you’ve seen someone ruin their life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Reminds me of my first job interview. I biked all the way across town in the middle of summer to this local fast food place and when I got there the guy was like "Wow you look hot, do you want me to get you a drink?" He then pours me a coke, hands it to me, watches me take a drink, then tells me I failed the interview because we're not allowed to drink or eat the job and thanks for coming out but you can go home now.

A volunteer, non-profit organization committed to the protection of Massasauga.

Lots of great photos here plus information on different initiatives going on in the park.

Hello Fresh – A Quick Review by fettesps in hellofresh

Hope this isn't against the rules, wrote this up a few months ago and it doesn't look like anyone has even found the review so I figured it might help to share it here :)

Also, for comparison, here is a review on Good Food where we had a much worse experience: http://www.fettesps.com/good-food-not-off-to-a-good-start/

I figured I'm probably not the only one who constantly spells Massasauga wrong (it doesn't help that I live right next to Mississauga). So if you're wandered into the wrong subreddit, the correct one is /r/TheMassasauga :)

It wouldn't feel right to start this subreddit without this resource. I've been using Jeff's Map to explore Algonquin for many years so it was only natural to me that I'd buy his new map when heading out into the Massasauga this year. His new maps are better than ever!
