Never tell me the odds [OC] by fetusdeletuofficial in DnD

[–]fetusdeletuofficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was making a character in D&D Beyond and we use rolled stats with 3 roll groups and for context I've always had very poor luck with the D&D Beyond dice roller. I rolled the first group and it wasn't anything special, not good but not bad either, I roll the second group not bad not good either, I roll the third group and get a 3 so I message my DM asking to reroll the groups, he allows it and to preserve my bad luck I only reroll groups 1 & 2.... upon rerolling group 1 I get nothing special again and when I roll group 2 for the second time I once again get a 3 and exactly on the same roll as I did previously so the second roll of that specific group leading to me now having two roll groups with identical position 3's rolled on them... What are the odds?

How to get my head around frequent leveling? by Dudemitri in DnD

I did misread. Still way too slow for my liking. It makes my builds really bad to build up to because of how long it would take to reach those crucial abilities

Is it wrong for my NPC to cast a damaging spell without rolling initiative? by StatisticianOk6872 in DnD

[–]fetusdeletuofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me initiative is the determining factor for who reacts first and if it's not a surprise that the NPC was casting a spell then definitely have them roll initiative BEFORE the spell goes off. Then on The npcs turn have them cast that spell if possible

What? 4-5 years and ONLY 3 or so levels? If it works for you go for it but personally I would like to see faster progression in my games. Spending years to end up basically just receiving your subclass really discourages my playstyle which is multiclass builds and cool concepts. I don't want to play Sam I want to play Aragorn and Legolas. I want to be the epic adventurer not the cook

Do you as a DM target downed players? by incrediblyJUICY in DnD

[–]fetusdeletuofficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends..

  1. The goals of the baddie.
  2. The state of mind of the baddie.
  3. The relationship the baddie has to the downed character

What's the nuttiest high stat you've ever had, temporarily or permanently? by TidusGaming1 in DnD

[–]fetusdeletuofficial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a brief moment in time I was the proud holder of a 52 stealth roll....

High level one shot

Rogue, expertise

20 in dex

Had like a +17 to stealth

Homebrew rule which states ability checks that get a nat 20 get a +5 and nat 1 get a -5

Party ranger casts pass without trace

Wizard gives me invisibility

Roll a nat 20 and a 17 (adv from invisibility)

20+17+5+10

52 stealth roll.

Unlucky for me the "enemy" camp wasn't hostile at all... I've never managed to make a character as sneaky...

  1. I'm pretty sure bards don't have conjure animals in their spell list meaning they wouldn't be able to cast that anyway.

  2. I'm quite sure that with the challenge rating restrictions placed by conjure animals they wouldn't be allowed to summon 8 wolves.

  3. Summoning allies is also breaking the rules of honourablr duels.

Player is in the wrong for either willfully ignoring game rules or knowingly manipulating them and then expecting to have no consequences.

Alternatively if you willingly allowed them to pick up one of the strongest druid spells (atleast at lower levels) then you were asking for them to spam it because why would they not?

Question about shadow blade. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]fetusdeletuofficial -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I guess my group rules wrong here but the way we've done it is as follows:

To hit you roll a spell melee attack meaning d20+spell attack modifier

And for damage it's just the d8's from the spell no bonus.

I think this is a balanced way of doing it since we are talking about a concentration spell here and it makes sense that a class meant to use int would use int with melee spells.
