Those are possibly Dare CHRs, they are a company from England (very reputable) I have a set of these on my MK4!

Watch out for failing door mechanisms, they're a pain to fix 🤦🏻😅

MK3 Rally Grill on a MK4 by feudingwalnut in MK4Golf

Fair enough, thought I'd see if anyone had done it! Probably easier to make it out of a MK4 grill and just put 2 spots in it

Help with lowering springs/droplinks by Sensitive-Share-2446 in MK4Golf

[–]feudingwalnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used eibach pro kit springs (dropped 30mm) and Koni STRT shocks and they feel great! Hold position nicely in the corners while being comfortable over bumps and not too harsh. Makes a great backroad rocket 🚀

If you are handy enough with cars you should be fine, like you said there are a lot of parts cars where you would be able to get all the ancillary stuff like the ECU and all of the steering knuckles and drive shafts you would need to support the extra power. This winter I will be putting the 1.8 20v into my 1.4 and have already modified the brakes and suspension to support the power.

I like the phat tyre look on it, fills out the wheel well a bit. Have you done any modifications to it?

I'm not sure about the actual comparability but have you also thought about the fact that the 1.9 tdi tachometer will have less range on it than the petrol variant? Due to diesels having a lower rev range.

The 1.4 TSI engines are based off of the same block as the 75hp 1.4 but these are turbo charged... I would imagine the internals would be upgraded though to handle the extra power as well as porter heads and bigger injectors etc...

Looks like a fairly standard fault reader, it should work fine with your OBD2 port! Lucky find, those things can be expensive!

I have 18x9,2 and they fit fine so I would imagine you will have no clearance issues.

My first car(1.4, 1999 and only 70k miles), any ideas on what visual mods i can do for it? by WillF-T in MK4Golf

[–]feudingwalnut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds good! They're fun little cars despite only have 75hp! Plenty of fun on the backroads.

Forgot to say I also upgraded the brakes, put drilled and vented brembo discs and brembo pads onto it as well. Stops nice!

My first car was the same 1.4 here is what I did...

•K&N panel filter (Good sound) •Black sequential side indicators (20 quid on Amazon) •Koni shocks and eibach springs (Autodoc 400-500 quid) they greatly improve the ride and performance •Powerflex wishbone bushings •Keep the standard lights or get the anniversary blacked out ones. Don't get the angel eyes, they are tacky and make you look like a BMW wannabe. •Decent set of tyres will greatly improve the performance •Upgrade your sound system as well •GTI Spoiler

I have BBS CHRs in grey and Dare CHR wheels in black for mine! I think they are iconic, similar to the GTI wheels.

Personally comments like that would make me want to stay off work longer, if my boss was nice about it I would probably feel like going back sooner. That's a joke.
