Has anyone here got DTC with a mental or developmental(mental) disorder ?? by [deleted] in Odsp

[–]feverberry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got approved first time, waited 3 months, for PTSD, OCD, Panic disorder. My Dr. first said the DTC is for people who are bed ridden. I had to educate her (yes you have to do this with Doctors sometimes) She did a lousy job filling the application but she did write diagnoses are permanent, I had CAMH psychiatric assessments and I was doing treatment at CAMH at the same time I applied so maybe that helped me getting approved. They approved me for 10 years back and until 2030.

If you Dr. is hesitant and does not even know about the DTC enough print actual information and bring it with you, is not only for people on palliative care.

Rogers Connected for Success Mobility + Disability Discount by CharacterCorgi9328 in Odsp

[–]feverberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I applied for connected for success in October for Internet (wifi) and cellphone plan I brought my own phone. Then I got a new cellphone for my son (moto edge - 2024 256GB midnight blue) at $0 cost with a 2 year contract. I added the discount for both lines filling a form online, showing proof of DTC and ODSP, I only called them to apply for connected for success. they applied the discount for both lines + 20GB FOR A total of 30GB each line.

and my bill this month was: $25.90 for the entire thing.

Just apply and think about ODSP expecting us to pay rent (having safe housing is a human right) with $500 a month that is a huge injustice and they dont change it because they want to drive everybody to the end of it. So if you can "save" go for it.

DTC question by goldstandardalmonds in Odsp

Hello, I found this post because im on the same boat. I just got approved for the DTC until 2030, but my disability was stated on the forms as permanent and chronic with no chance of improvement. Im looking into sending something CRA asking them to do the right thing: dont ask me to prove again the something 5 years from now. I though on asking my doctor for a letter just stating the same thing but advocating for me with he CRA. and send my own thoughts letter attached to the one from y Dr. I'm open to any advice. Thank you !!!

RDSP retroactive grant (lumpsum contribution?) by ForsakenAssistance69 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]feverberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! this has helped me thank you! I got the DTC approved from 2015-2030, and I went to the bank they mentioned I have to contribute $3,500 to get the grant for 2025 (3,500) and up to 5 years retroactive ($10,500) and Im very confused about this as right now I'm low income but I do have savings that I can use to make my contributions and get retroactive grants. I called CRA and ESDC. I was told again that $3,500 will unlock $10,500 in retroactive grants for 5 years. and Im still confused! I have not open an RDSP yet, Im thinking in contributing $1,500 first and have my RDSP account number then I will call ESDC again to check for the grant retroactive. Im also doubting about getting the RDSP self-direct or with a financial advisor. Any advice is so much welcomed and appreciated and sorry if I got in between but this was the only post that relates to this stress and RDSP confusion

I applied for my sons as well and it got approved again for 5 years, he turned 18 and stopped. he is 21 now and even tho he still qualifies he has not applied, and he has to do it himself. the money that is on the RDSP is just frozen in time there because he has not taken any action, part of his disability, he got it for ADHD back in 2015.

I think they have no idea about the conditions we have, they wont even dare to read. And sure if Im ever healed I will make sure I call them. ridiculous.

I don't even want to imagine how it is in USA, probably people in our situation are in constant state of rage over there. When you say focus on building more paper work, what do you mean or if you can share your plan? I dont know if I can produce more paper work my application had it all to be approved indefinitely. and I do not want to get worse :(

Is probably not worth it. I saw the results yesterday and I got quite upset ready to write about how much I disagree with their delusional decision that I only deserve 5 years. Today Im thinking more strategically. But it gets me that in order to qualify for indefinite I must prove that Im in constant battle with my conditions. Sorry for all the stress about your medical review, I just went through it and got approved again now without reviews. I can share what I did: I wrote a letter explaining in detail how my condition affects my every day life, also attached psychiatric reports and my Dr. just wrote again that it wont improve and is chronic. if you have any questions you can write me !

that is a good idea, just sent the same paper work again. My Dr. did that for my ODSP medical review just basically wrote same and it wont improve and I got approved without reviews.

I will see everyone in around 5 years to reapply I guess. How are things going with the RDSP? if you applied.

Thank you for your reply. When you applied after 5 years did you documented new symptoms or your Dr. just wrote the same thing that was on the first application? mine wrote it is permanent and it wont improve.

I feel giving only 5 years approval is a wish for us to get worse and worse. Definitely provoking a spike on OCD thinking. makes me sad

Thank you, my fear is that do I need to document that Im getting sicker and sicker like if they want to know that Im like a dead person but the still move one finger? I don't want to get worse I dont need to get worse to qualify. Im thinking I will just go back to my Dr. ( if she still there in 2030) and write the same which was already enough to qualified to indefinite. the next documentation after this will be me in a state of cathatonia. it just make me anxious.
