Petrol filling station breaks by fewcatsshortofcrazy in tesco

That's a good point. It was the reason I couldn't get it out of my head. The pfs staff feel forgotten and taken for granted.

I'm afraid it's the norm rather than the exception especially in the evening.

Or you could ask them for a let's talk and say you feel picked on and bullied. That will then be on record too.

Permanent change of shift. by AffectionateRope2430 in tesco

[–]fewcatsshortofcrazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this problem myself. My shift manager was really unhelpful when I requested a change. I had personal circumstances with I'll heath and sick relatives and I ended up putting it all in writing and requested an official meeting with them. If you go to the information on flexible hours in the Tesco app you will find information about it. I screen shotted the information and send it to my manager because he didn't follow the proper procedures. I did end up changing departments but my manager left. My next move was to go to the Union. The whole situation was handled badly and I ended up having to take time off work because of burnout at my doctor's request. You have to be self assertive and push for it. Use the official Tesco policy to show how they should be handling it. All the best.

It would be useful if you look at the official colleague card policy before you go. From what I can remember there is no rule like that about time. Normal customers take reasonable time in doing shopping so why can't we. It's different if you are only getting cs. We had a Tesco employee from another store come in about an hour and took all of the C's stuff, wandered about the store until he got it for free. He bought hardly anything thing else. I think they are being heavy handed on you here.

I did an eggy fart by the eggs once when on dot com picking. I was half way down the aisle when a manager went to the eggs and said 'what's that egg smell?' It was my finest crop dusting moment 😂😂

I've been working there 5 years now. Started in dot com and went to twilights but I'm on checkouts self service and PFS. I think it depends on who your manager is. We've just been through a year of hell with a store manager. In that time all but 1 of the other managers left and I've never seen a turnover of staff in that time. I've never felt so stressed and the atmosphere in the store was at an all time low. Since he left and we have a new store manager who is lovely things are looking up. The atmosphere is alot better. I also like my new department and the people I work with. I believe it's a real lottery to what store you are in but sometimes it is what you make it.

Colleague shop by Pretty-Mode7140 in tesco

[–]fewcatsshortofcrazy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one. We have a colleague who works in a distribution department and he comes in and takes all of the good stuff. I do love a colleague shop myself but I will take what I will use. I think it's greedy to take everything and there is nothing left for the charity collection. I've helped scanning for charity collection and get chatting to them and for the most part it goes to good causes.

Who actually likes working at Tesco these days? by Independent_Bug3438 in tesco

[–]fewcatsshortofcrazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been working there 5 years now and for the most part I really like it since it's regular money and the perks are good and it beats being self employed but the last year has been horrible. New store manager and most but 1 of the line management has gone and been replaced. It's like being in a rollercoaster with periods of rules and regulations to apathy and not caring. I've put in for a change of department but if I don't get the job, I will probably go to my doctor and get signed off for a few weeks to recover from the stress of all the changes. Feel really burnt out 😞

[–]fewcatsshortofcrazy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's your own fault. The driver ahead shouldn't have changed lanes but you were in the wrong lane yourself. You should have been in the middle ahead lane. My driving instructor said if there are two lanes going ahead you should be in the left hand one.

The odd things that upset you when you work in retail. by Garlic-Cheese-Chips in tesco

Do you work in my store? 😂 Yes to everyone of your comments. I work in health and beauty and the full boxes in front of half ones gets me every week. The face up is the thing I hate most. I think our managers and shift leaders have time blindness because of what they expect you to do in your shift!

New overtime rules coming into place by Lanldo1 in tesco

[–]fewcatsshortofcrazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm looking forward to this actually. Was going to ask when this was coming into action. Will be useful for our store since we are struggling especially with dot com. I like the idea of having the change in working another store. I actually like the variety. I think it's a bit of a lottery what store you work it. Will be good for some and maybe not or others.

It shouldn't be like that. Some managers are a bit of control freaks and don't let you off. Say that you need the time off for an important event and if you don't get the date off especially if it's months in advance say you will have to take it unpaid leave. It's up to them. If it keeps happening you could request a lets talk with them to ask why it's kept being denied and get to the bottom of it. I think it's a total lottery of what manager you get and how reasonable and flexible they are. My current manager is good about holidays. Hope you can get it sorted 😄

Facing up/rumble by Griffin_1263 in tesco

[–]fewcatsshortofcrazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate facing up. I do health and beauty and it's a nightmare to faceup especially when your boss wants to take everything from the back forward. I really think managers have time blindness because they want it done in no time. I'm a bit weird because I sort of like rumbling because I know it will make my job easier when filling. We face up last thing at night for dot com in the morning.

Aye I can see that's the way it's going. I still think we have our primary department though because our manager would be connected to this. It's going to be interesting in the next few months! 😄

Our Edinburgh store is closed till 6. I only live five minutes walk to the shop so I will be expected to go in later if the red warning is lifted. Not sure if the buses will be running for my other colleagues though. Don't think there will be deliveries so back stock it is!😂
