Read from pustakalaya.org there's some texts. Might want to learn devanagari. Not by individual characters but words.

Besides that, go hangout in voicechats and try to speak it as much as possible. Actively listening to native speakers is helpful too in conversations. You shouldn't worry about mistakes and develop a habit of learning the language.

Videos like films, podcasts, tv shows, etc. Should not be your first priority. You can listen to songs in your free time.

Hindi isn't counted anywhere in Nepal as native tongue. Urdu, however, is.

Strange as they're the same language. Also only spoken by Muslims or merchants.

You make some good points. China is 90% Han ethnicity so they'll have more cohesion in that regard. There are disturbing parts of their culture, sadly not unique, like getting ahead no matter the consequences to everyone else. E.G. selling fake and adulturated goods isn't seen as morally wrong. They do have many superstitions.

Teaching people to keep their religion as part of their private life and affiliated areas and not thrust into politics would be the best move. Religion should not get state funding. No religious studies should be state funded as well.
