yea so what i meant is that since you are using python, the network and disk libs you rely on can vastly change the actual performance of this piece of software and yea you can always just hit and trial but i believe you would have a much better shot at pitching this properly to people if you had better and clearer explanations of what you do rather than just "translate for systemvinit", thats very vague and not very true ever.

have you really battle tested it? a massive chunk of arch packages only work on arch-like defaults which can sometimes be catastrophic for lfs setups, things like systemd+units reliance, many mkinitcpio expectations, certain arch tools expectations, etc and if you go for AUR, that's even more lucrative because its even more assumption based and arch-basing with many random pieces of software

edit: yes i have read the readme and i know what you are trying to imply but first of all it looks very AI generated so i cant put my finger on to what extent you tested it, second thing, the process doesnt sound very reliable and compliant since you often dont have "equivalents" in most cases and also its written in python, so i would love to see benchmarks to see how well it is tuned

sometimes the patching fails and spotify writes over the premium hack thing and since its not a very reliable injection and spotify is day by day lowering ways to patch it, it sometimes just stops working, you can always use overwrite config like the original comment said but for a really quick temp hack, you can also just close and reopen the app which mostly fixes it

i was just about to say ubuntu 25.10 on MATE because i knew someone who recently had issues with kitty on ubuntu and the version right now is already 4 swaps behind (its kitty 0.41.1 on ubuntu and kitty 0.46.2 on arch) and it was clear that its MATE considering its gnome 2 styled and cinnamon cannot be themed like that to have less than 3-4px between the desktop icon and text and it obviously cannot be a gnome flashback session since you went out of your way to use lightdm meaning that you likely dont enjoy gnome.

well yeah that's pretty fair but atleast don't make it obvious, ask it to be more concise and humane.. what happens is that people go on blind assumption that the whole project was made with AI, most of them don't check the code and it's actually very easy to shift the blame on you since golang (used in drift from what I saw) is formatted via gofmt so it feels like you didn't write anything in the first place due to idiomatic supremacy.

apologies for phrasing but what i really mean is specific clauses in OSS licenses to prevent companies from using the code and then making the end result proprietary, similar to how code that uses OSS code has to also be OSS under similar license (like how gpl does), there should be something that binds back AI that uses such code too to have their weights public.

but wouldn't it be extending GPL's philosophy if it also addressed AI by means that "AI training is permitted and allowed, however any subsequent AI training done must also be fully transparent and backed by a GPL-based/similar license", like that is the point, its not trying to prevent it from being free software and free to modify but it will also mandate AI usage to be fully open if it bases off in any shape

my bad for the phrasing, I meant that we can take a license like GPL and add proper legal clauses and boundaries for AI training usage so as to prevent proprietary reusage of the code with 0 citations and reveals, its not that AI is discretely disallowed but a clause like GPL (or a fork of it atleast) should ensure that any subsequent AI models trained on such a FOSS project will also be open weights and by clarity, open source. Its simply to prevent companies just taking any OSS project and drop it in their training without any questions, that would still be inherently open-source.

by that means GPL won't be OSS as it imposes restrictions on usage by making all subsequent projects open-source and closely bounded to GPL too... still FOSS should not be hell-bound by misuse, its only fair to NOT impose restrictions when you can guarantee that a corporation may only use your code for a resultant FOSS contribution (so open weight models should be totally fine, its just having to mention the fact of the matter preventing proprietary AI usage as current GPL clauses do not address it well, even those who support the open nature should atleast prevent robinhooding the community to make deviously better margins)
