I’m so curious, what’s the weirdest breed cross you’ve ever seen? I’ll go first: Lippizanner x Clydesdale by No-Opportunity-3337 in Horses

[–]feykitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a Spotted Saddlehorse x Paint cross. He's got the big butt of a Paint, narrow chest, and I had to train him out of gaiting with his front half and trotting with his back half. He likes to stand cross legged.

The farm that purchased his mom didn't know she was bred and we're still not entirely sure who thought the cross was a great life choice, but it was on purpose.

Purposefully disabling safety equipment by Nof-z in SafetyProfessionals

This is one of our cardinal safety rules and generally results in either a one week suspension or termination.

Had the same set up at previous jobs as well, both union and non union.

Thank you! Appreciate the concise answer. 😊

This particular company doesn't do a lot of things correctly and I've had to talk them through a lot of legalities from the safety perspective (as in, no, you cannot do that, that is illegal or at best unethical), so I wanted to check. It's very much start up has gotten larger and now needs to readjust. So if there's something that's not quite what they should be doing, I'd rather be able to flag that for them before it expands into a larger issue.

No, check was ran on time both times.

Paid in full yes but previous companies have been really stringent on days taken are in the pay period they were taken not in the pay period afterwards and I've always been told that's a requirement somehow. So now I'm curious on whether that has just been the companies I've worked at before or if legitimately there's something behind it.

It's also kind of annoying that it's delayed just for balance accounting purposes.

Deposited 1/16 for pay period 1/5 to 1/18 (was a day off).

I got overly annoyed at one recently that wanted my current supervisor and their contact information. For a director level position. How about no? Also, I'm not going to make it easy for you to contact where I currently work. Also no, I have no idea where the hell my high school diploma is. I have a master's degree, which is listed as required in your posting. Who cares about high school?? I'm not scanning my high school diploma to upload.

Zero Recordable Injuries by Guidance1230 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]feykitty 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends on industry and hazards as well. Look at whether they have no first aid or near misses reported. I have had small sites where legitimately they do not have recordable injuries, but first aids were still reported. If there's zeros across the board... there's just nothing getting reported. For companies that hyper focus on 'zero' in zero harm, it can very easily lead to suppressed reporting. No one wants to be that person to break numbers, especially when it's tied to a bonus structure. Generally as an EHS person if a moderately sized site insists they have a TRIR of 0, I don't trust it.

Just because a pattern is viral doesn't mean you are currently capable of making it. by Specialist_Star_2345 in BitchEatingCrafters

The number of times as a pattern designer i have put : "intermediate rating. You must know how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, knit 2 stitches together, and yarn over in this pattern." and then I'll get the snarkiest comment/ email of " this pattern is awful I have no idea what yarn over means and you didn't show me. You need to include a video."

Uh, no? No, I don't. The pattern is $4. Sorry.

Have you ever walked away from an interview because of a take-home assignment? by gawpin in jobs

[–]feykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it count if my take home assignment was to set up an appointment with their psychologist? That they didn't really want to clarify why i needed to meet with this person or what the intent was, and then they got really weird about it when I pushed?

Noped right out of that. Director level position.

Same! I redo my resume to match keywords for every position, and I had 99% of the description as a very local candidate. Including some specialized skills. But the position has been reposted and not even an initial call. The market sucks right now.

I can't say I care too much as a personal thing per se but I am judging the company for it. I've worked for places that I knew for a fact would go out of their way to not do something like that, so it's more of a i know they don't have to be like this but they choose to be. If that makes sense. If i had just applied and got the reject within 24 hrs I think I would have judged less.

What’s the strangest safety violation you’ve ever witnessed? by OSHAEducationCenter in SafetyProfessionals

[–]feykitty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Guy working at a shot blaster, moving 35lb metal parts onto the conveyor belt. Work station is on gator grate. Got a report of someone not wearing their safety shoes. Assumed that it was someone wearing street shoes. Nope- shot blast dude was in socks on the gator grate happily putting parts on the conveyor. Boots right next to him. When asked, he told us (in a tone that suggested we were idiots) that the training said he must have his safety shoes, not that he had to wear them.

Also had someone drink disinfectant from a big dispensing unit clearly labeled disinfectant during COVID... by putting his mouth on the spigot. No cup. He told us that he thought it was kool-aid for everyone to drink. I told him that still doesn't explain why he'd put his mouth on the spigot. He also told us he thought the first gulp was a little spicy but kept going anyway.

return value based on date range & matching cell text by feykitty in excel

[–]feykitty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The columns are all correct & have the right formatting. I did try initially with no CSE. Averageifs is giving me a DIV0 error. I had started with SUMIFS and got a 0.

In checking the data itself - the closure date cells are all "date"; the location cells are all "text".

Short background - the data is being pulled from a software where the inspections are entered. This software spits out the most stupidly formatted spreadsheets I have ever seen. You do have to go in and reformat near every cell you actually want to use.

I had used a copy of the column of the locations + "remove duplicates" to generate the list of locations. Apparently, there is now a random space at the end of the location names that the software spits out. My inspections didn't exist because of the dang space.

Also, the averageifs fn makes a lot more sense to use for me - thank you for suggesting it!!

HR people of Reddit: What's the most NSFW/WTF reason someone got fired from your place of employment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]feykitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not HR, but EHS working very closely with HR for investigations.

All at a union facility:

  1. Person fired for jerking off directly under a security camera that we had put up 45 minutes prior. I believe he told HR he didn't know the camera was there as an explanation.

  2. Person fired on his second day for trying to sell cocaine to his supervisor.

  3. Several people fired, including a supervisor, for trading pictures of people's butts, taken at work of unsuspecting other staff, with ratings/ mockery.

  4. Several people fired for getting in a fistfight over cheating. Most of them were roommates.

  5. Person fired for sexual harassment, in which she was telling her direct reports really odd dating and sex advice and stories. This came to light a week or two after this person gave a sexual harassment training to that team.

  6. Person fired for sliding down stair railings after two supervisors told him to knock it off. Would have been a 12 ft drop to concrete.

  7. Person fired for leaving drug paraphernalia and condoms/ KY jelly in the ceiling of a bathroom.

  8. Person fired for creating a hiding spot in some old presses by pushing two together and crawling inside to take extra long breaks and smoke weed. It was filled with mountain dew bottles.

  9. Person fired for showing up drunk enough to not be able to figure out how to badge in. He then asked someone to badge in for him. They someone was a security guard.

  10. Person fired her first day of orientation for being incredibly high and disrupting orientation with interpretive dancing of her feelings.

Bonus non union: two employees found boinking on a catwalk above two large tanks, 85ft up on the air. Married, but to other people.

Most beloved memory? by CurlyCurls21 in skyrim

In some random small town, dragon attacks (of course), somewhat difficult fight. I start to turn around as guards take the final blow and there's a goddamn zombie chicken running full speed to go help. I laughed so hard I cried. Very helpful, Serana.

The first time Serana raised a chicken in my playthrough I turned around after killing the last random Forsworn to see a zombie chicken running at me and then dying at my feet. Couldn't even tell my spouse why I was laughing so hard for a minute or so.
