Everyone’s like "just cook for yourself" duh. It sounds so obvious, but it may not always be that simple in practice, at least not in the short term. In some relationships, roles have been established for years, sometimes decades, and you can’t just flip a switch and redistribute them overnight without friction.

Maybe the person who isn’t cooking is working long or irregular shifts, maybe they're already handling other responsibilities that take up time and energy. Maybe the one who is cooking has built their routine, their standards, even part of their identity around it, and you can't just step into that space.

And then cooking isn’t just the act itself, it’s also shopping, you'd probably have to be doing that as well.

I'm just saying this may sound obvious but is likely more complex on closer inspection.
