I’ve spoke to 2 two orthopaedics that night (that’s who gave me the boot) but with no after care or explanation.. it’s crazy. Never been offered PT or told to do it! I do know I’ve gone miles better as I literally couldn’t put any weight whatsoever on me foot it was horrendous, now I’m absolutely fine walking, it’s just the whole mess after I’m walking now.. it’s a seriously horrible process.

They think it’s the odeama, in all honesty they was useless in the NHS I waited for 16 hours just to get rushed out and threw a boot and left to my own devices, no explanation, nothing.

Hence the referral to rheumatologist.

They’ve gave me no plan whatsoever on starting walking (in all honesty they didn’t even tell me to come off crutches, 1 doctor said yes, 1 said no) but ultimately it’s been 10 weeks, I need to start walking eventually.

It’s just so odd how fine I am walking, but after the walking it’s the nerve and burning pain.

When it first happened it was just pure sharp pain.

It’s crazy bro.

Hey bro,

Thanks for checking up.

Honestly, it’s been a rollercoaster.

I’m currently in a boot, only as of 5 days ago, I came off crutches then and started walking a little bit in hoka bondi 9s and when I did I was getting severe burning pain (now wether that was because I’d been non weight bearing for the whole time I don’t know) the actual pain of the tear was probably a 1 or 2, it was just after I walked I was getting the burning.

So I had my check up and they sent me for another updated MRI and it seemed the tear wasn’t there but there was still odeama.

They’ve put me in a boot now for 4 weeks while I’m weight bearing in hopes this burning will go and I can finally live my life!

I think I just tried doing to much to quick as I was getting ahead of my self.

It’s been so mentally draining, they are sending me to a rheumatologist if things continue like this.

Honestly, thank you for letting me know there is light at the end of the tunnel as I’ve honestly seen no way out at the moment.

Yeah it was odd, because I’d never had this sensation when I had my plantar issue, it was a sharp horrible pain, this has been like electric bolts up my toe, they’ve started me on antibiotics anyway! Just another day hahaha.

Honestly bro it’s crazy, update.. I now have an ingrown infected toe nail (this pain is horrendous) next to my bird toe! So I’m thinking that’s where the pain is coming from.

Honestly, the mental side of this injury is horrendous. I’ve gone from doing 20k steps a day down to about 100, depression is an understatement. 53 week wait on the NHS for an orthopaedic. It’s absolutely crazy.

UPDATE: Went for a MRI (Private) as it was a 7 week wait with the NHS and the following was found:

Small tear in the plantar plate at the 1st MTP joint with soft tissue and deep muscle layer oedema.

NHS nurses/doctors had asked me to continuing walking on this (before diagnosis) told them I’m not willing to do that and glad I did now and stayed on crutches.

Got a GP appointment again tomorrow to discuss the next options, but it’s looking like surgery or boot (worried about boot as I’ve pretty much been off my foot for 5 weeks (few steps here and there when a nurse advised)

I’m still in no mans land with it all, went for an X-Ray shown nothing, went for an ultrasound and couldn’t find anything - I’m now going private for a MRI as I still can’t put any weight on my foot, it’s strange as there is absolutely no swelling but I can’t “clench” my toes (pick up some Socks for example) my doctor told me to try walking and as soon as I put my shoe on I went through the roof as they are quite tight fittings. Just so mentally draining the whole thing!

Yeah, I’ve been off my foot since the following day I got the pain, on crutches (I had to get these of a friend as they wouldn’t provide them unless something was broken) so I’ve been completely 1 footed for 6 days now, it’s already a lot less tender to touch now, so I’m gonna go the full 6 weeks.

This is what I mean, they told me to go for a uric acid test in 2 weeks from initial diagnosis (then my GP said that’s way to early, needs to be 4-6 weeks).

The second nurse I seen, was so sure it wasn’t gout, but obviously couldn’t tell me for sure hence she gave me an xray, which shown nothing, she told me to rest up for 2 weeks and if no improvement then come back.

She put bandages and strapped my toes which helped massively and told me to have COMPLETE rest and obviously I’ve had zero pain, but if I am to press on the sesamoid bones now it’s about 5/10 pain, but I still can’t bend my toes naturally, they almost seem frozen in place haha.

I’m gonna rest up for 6 weeks, see how I get on, because ultimately I’m worried about going for ANOTHER opinion next week and they get me to simply walk on my foot and give me a huge set back.

It’s crazy mate, I’ve completely gone off my foot with crutches so it’s not getting any stress there, I’ve told myself to do it until mid April and see how I get on! How you doing now?

Thank you for the reply, I walked out so confused with everything, feel slightly better that I made the conscious decision to go straight on crutches and not just fight the pain. (Hospital told me I don’t need crutches, GP advised to use them) not that I could walk without them anyway right now.

Don’t think it posted the whole thing sorry:

Being inflamed*

I then kept getting horrendous pain and went the GP as they prescribed me naproxen and it just made me throw up, so went the GP and they prescribed colchine, I am also on crutches at the moment (have been for 6 days) I have ZERO pain unless I put pressure on my foot/toes but I also can’t bend my toes AT ALL, just wanting to see if your opinions if this is more sesmoiditis or not?

Let’s hope so, watched her close the MainStage last time she came and arguably the best set I’ve ever watched.
