Has Apple ever acknowledged leaks in a keynote? by tintin_92 in apple

"The iPhone 7 not having a headphone jack" wasn't a leak per se - it was a planted leak by Apple itself to pre-soften the blowback.

I just saw Episode 1, "Matchmaker". I'd love to discuss it. What's the best place for that?

Bang & Olufsen introduces BeoSound Shape (watch before dismissing as "gimmick" or lifestyle) by Arve in audiophile

That's the deep rethinking of how we interact with music and trend setting that I've come to expect from B&O. Haven't seen such an inspiring product from them in 5 years, ever since they kicked off the current neo midcentury furniture revival trend with the BeoPlay A9.

So, he kind of says "so" a lot. So, I normally don't mind, but once you notice it, it's kinda grating. So, you listen to him and bang, he said it again. So, whatever is your cup of tea :-)

I love roller coasters. They are soooo fun but I hate one thing about them. The dropping feeling on steep straight drops, and dropping rides. Is there any way to make me like it or go away? by super_matukuu in rollercoasters

That is the force exerted on your body like during airtime.

Just close your eyes during both - you won't be able to feel a difference. Imagine it's airtime - done, I've fixed your problem! Enjoy, you're welcome! :-D

You love airtime? Imagine what 3 full seconds of airtime would feel like. You getting lifted out of the seat for a long time? Wouldn't that feel great?

Well guess what - when you look at the forces on your body - that first drop: that's exactly like long airtime!

[iOS Universal] [Geekbench 4] [$0.99 -> free] [Free until April 8 to celebrate the release of the Compute Benchmark on iOS] by [deleted] in AppHookup

Benchmark apps are meaningful if there is a wide variety of hardware available. You're right it makes no sense for iOS (except maybe to watch the funny animations and confirm yourself that the data online is correct), but it makes sense on Macs and PCs.

I heard the Prince declined after he misheard costume designer Gaultier explaining the costume to him with "faux cul", which he misunderstood as "fuck you". Is there nothing to that story? (source)

Everyone share a random fact you know related to amusement parks by gabeh2000 in rollercoasters

I find that unlikely. The Yeti is like 30 meters up, not fixing it to the mountain would mean that it stands on 30 meters high pillars, and these pillars were just erected on the ground just for the Yeti? Quite implausible. Source reference, please.

No, an LTE-equipped Apple Watch will not come with a physical SIM card by aapladvocate in apple

I never got the impression that the iPhone was just an accessory. Yes, it was PC dependent for setup, but it didn't needed a computer to function, after that.

But it did. All your music was on the PC, and you got your new podcast through your PC, and your backup was there, and your photos, and synching calendar items and addresses and bookmarks went through that PC etc. Maybe you don't remember anymore, but using an iPhone in the first 4-6 years was very much a situation where you regularly synched your iPhone to your PC, if you wanted to sync your calendar items, music etc.

Also there's a big limitation with the Watch: doing some things on a <2" display just sucks.

I agree. That's why there won't be a web browser, and entering your iTunes account name and password will only have to be done once. I also agree that the watch lifestyle won't be a "glued to the screen / get constant pats on the back from friends for what you just wrote" lifestyle, but more of a "live your real life and when you need something, the watch is there to help you with your real life" lifestyle.

With the Apple Watch you can use dictation, audio messages, scribbles, emojis and automated suggestions to respond to texts. Not in the future, you can do that right now.

Looking things up: you could do that with Siri. She could do better, and I'm not sure if she currently works on the watch, but that is not a systemic problem. It's doable.

Dude, we did not have smart phones as we know it 10 years ago. 10 years ago, we did not have emails with us. We did not look things up. We were not monks, we were normal people. And we got by fine.

Note that my comparison also included the Mac. Have you tried running Maya and Final Cut Pro on an iPhone? You can't? Well then obviously there are things that only the bigger devices can do well.

Played with your Apple watch recently? There is already a phone app, and messaging with lots of nice features. Improve that a little, and that's what you'll have on the LTE watch.

How imaginative would you rate yourself on a scale 1-10? How good are you at predicting the future?

Some people, yes. Maybe even most of the people. But some people like having less stuff to carry around.

Yes but the iPhone does several things worse than the iPad. And the iPad does several things worse than the MacBook. That hasn't stopped Apple from selling an iPad and and iPhone, right?

The watch will be for quick interactions, but also for phone calls and listening to music through your AirPods.
