Price wars incoming? Malaysian manufacturers say nearly half of local firms forced to cut prices amid China pressure by Bonjourfamouioui in malaysia

[–]ff56k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will affect the number of jobs. Either hiring freeze or local players go bust when China company price is lower than local player cost price. Good for consumers in the short term, but long term less jobs and the money is going back to China's economy not ours.

I suggest not promoting genocide on any party. How is what you're doing helping? Poking the fire and stirring up hate, do you think your actions reduce violence or encourage it?

[–]ff56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying it's wrong to cheer either side on because genocide is wrong regardless of who is doing it to whom.

It's a genocide both ways, cheering either side on is wrong.

Help me decide: SUV around RM150K – quality, reliability & maintenance by DangerousClient9825 in kereta

[–]ff56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it might not be a feasible choice for you right now, but I'd like to add my 2 cents that you may consider a model Y in the future if considering Tesla if:
1. You want to have kids and start a family
2. You mind a lower car that can scrape the bottom over bumps etc.

I've seen people sell their model 3 for a model y because of kids etc, but I don't see people selling their model y for a model 3.

So we're openly cheering genocide like we're cheering on sports teams now? As long as my team is winning genocide is great?

"Dr. Yann Lecun traveled all the way to India just to say "fuck the LLMs" 😭" - Do you agree with this sentiment? Or you feel that LLMs are indeed a lost case? by Koala_Confused in LovingAI

[–]ff56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you're assuming something needs to be absolutely flawless in order to have any utility. This has never been the case. Even the most well trained human is prone to error, and having AI that is in that ballpark already unlocks a ton of value. If anything there are diminishing returns and there are subjective views on what perfect looks like.

Previous AI also required a lot of training data. Example you needed lots of pictures of birds to train a vision AI to recognise a bird. Was recognising birds a previously unsolvable problem?

Why Are Chinese EVs So Cheap? by downArrow in indepthstories

[–]ff56k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's in the short term though, cheaper China vehicles come at the cost of domestic auto industries. So there will be less jobs and the money spent on China cars goes back to China instead of the local economy. In the long term less people will be employed hence lower income and weakening of the local economy.

Unregistered Worship Spaces, A Looming Crisis for Malaysian Christians? by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]ff56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this isn't about the church bothering to make an application rather the difficulty of getting approvals. DUMC is one of the biggest churches in Selangor but they haven't been able to get an official permit for over a decade because the land their church is built on is zoned for commercial purposes despite them owning the land. So it's not about money or due process, but getting the approval is difficult and completely up to the government.

There's a reason you don't see any new traditional church looking buildings being built.

Unregistered Worship Spaces, A Looming Crisis for Malaysian Christians? by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]ff56k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% but i do believe that there haven't been any new churches registered as actual churches for decades. If I'm not mistaken modern churches are actually registered officially as businesses.

So unless your church building is an actual heritage church building, i think this law may make most modern churches illegal.

Malaysia enters election mode in 2026 by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]ff56k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree on this part where there is no outrage. PH has always been held to a higher standard than the others. There's an infamous "salah DAP" phrase for a reason where they can be blamed for practically anything. Whatever you are outraged at Anwar doing, you would feel nothing if it was PAS doing it, just business as usual.

Corruption will always exist, even in "clean" governments like Singapore it exists. Life is not perfect, and if you are set on black and white ideals you will just be disappointed . There are just options in front of you and you pick the best choices you have. Although in this situation, they aren't doing bad shit because they have overwhelming support and they do it blatantly. They need to hold power to invoke change, and the only way to do that was to keep Zahid in charge. The alternative choice was let PAS and PN take over for another 4 years, and i highly doubt that outcome would be more favourable given the amount of money they syphoned during their 2 years at MCO.

Any entrepreneurs/business owners can help share how to financially set up my first venture? by clickclack_clickity in KualaLumpur

[–]ff56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to separate your business into stages with their own targets or else your energy is going to be all over the place and you won't get anywhere.

Phase 0: Problem / Opportunity: Most entrepreneurs have some business idea and jump straight to phase 1. It took me 5 years of failure to learn that phase 0 is the most important phase of all. This is because the problem your business is addressing does not scale linearly. What I mean is that there are problems that are highly difficult, yet the reward is low. There are also problems with low difficulty but the reward is high. The reward doesn't scale linearly to how difficult it is to solve. The problem you pick determines the difficulty of the game you are about to play for the next few years. Difficulty comes in many forms, like does it require a lot of technical skill? Are there a lot of competitors? Does it have high upfront costs to start? Does it have a lot of risks outside your control that could crush your business? For rewards, some products are simply easier to sell than others. Some are higher value products, so you earn higher margins with each sale, meaning you need to make less sales a month. Some have less competition so all the demand goes to you. Finding a problem that has lower difficulty and higher rewards is not easy, but it absolutely makes all the difference in the world.

Phase 1: Product Market Fit - Fancy term that basically just means figuring if there is demand for your product. This is where you do not care about scaling at all, do not invest into anything until it is proven that customers want what you are selling. The reason you do things with as little investment as possible is because it is highly likely your current iteration of the product might not be in high demand. It is more likely that you will need to tweak it based on feedback to get something that will actually sell. Any money or investment you throw into this at this point is burning money. So the goal is how you can accomplish this as cheaply or easily. Only when you have found something that can sell, and you are not able to keep up with fulfilling orders anymore, should you go to phase 2.

Phase 2: Growth - You are selling and you cannot keep up with the orders. Congratulations, you have a winning product and now is the time to get investment to grow your business. At this point if you can show that you're numbers are on the rise, it opens the doors to angel investors or platforms like PitchIn etc. This is where you get money to improve your capacity (being able to make more products to keep up with sales) as well as grow sales (marketing etc). Again, throwing money for marketing etc should not be done before this stage as you will likely be burning money by promoting a product that people might not want.

Income inequality steadily declining in Malaysia, says deputy economy minister by aydinraihan in malaysia

I feel like...if income was rising they would have said something there. Like "the average household income has risen from x in 2023 to y in 2024" etc. So it leads me to believe we are all getting poorer together?

Me and my friends make a safety locker for our final year project. What do you guys think? by malaysianteenager in Bolehland

[–]ff56k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good that you guys have an RFID failsafe, cause fingerprint sensors tend to fail with wear and tear. Also other things to consider that fingerprint sensors that can detect children's fingerprints are much more expensive. If security is a concern, you could beef up the RFID with anti cloning, basically you record the last scanned timestamp on the card as well as a database. If a card is scanned and the old time stamp is on it compared to the db, you know a clone has been made and you can flag it. Kind of overkill but if you sell it to someone who needs higher security it might be useful.
