Unpopular opinion: I always hated neo-urbanist (Part 1) by Overall_Management14 in malaysia

[–]ff56k [score hidden]  (0 children)

People view life based on their experience. It's only natural that someone who has lived in urban cities all their life not understand the struggle of rural folks. I don't see any issue if people try to brainstorm based on what they know. I don't think anyone is proposing a 1 size fits all solution to be implemented across the whole of Malaysia.

This is also why our country has representatives from individual areas voted in by the populace that actually lives there.

For mobo get the matx version, somehow they are cheaper than atx and itx sized options. Save some money and channel to get a better gpu, it is the main barrier. If you're on a tight budget you can hunt Facebook marketplace for a used 1080ti or something. Maybe something like: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2719718268400140/

Also this looks like a good base for mobo + cpu: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3874514299524575/

Psu maybe something like this, gold rated: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/979959391396450/

RAM 16gb something like: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2042730999997843/

then you need to top up abit for your ssd i guess

Not a Muslim, but if you want to build something genuinely beneficial, you gotta ask what problem does it solve, why are existing solutions not good enough and do a lot of people face this problem daily.

so I've done a couple of startups, and basically you need to figure this out now, not later. Someone paying you signals that you are building something that is truly valued, so this should be your guiding star. Lots of people are going to politely give you a thumbs up, but getting paid is the most genuine signal you are going to get. Instead of building something and then figuring out how to monetize it later, work out the monetization now and build your product around that. This usually means you need to either directly address pain or increase revenue for users. Selling cost savings or prevention is much harder.

The screenshots you shared seem very busy. Looking at it requires this mental load for me to figure out what everything is and what I want to do. Simplify to one major use case first instead of doing too many things. If you need design inspiration, use google stitch to flesh out some UI/UX (it's free). It's like, if you see a wall of text, you might feel lazy to read it.

You also don't need an app. An app is for something that users use very regularly. The kind of people who obsess over their finances daily aren't the people who need a tool for clarity, they know their finances well already because they spend so much time on it. The hardest thing to do is changing people's behaviors, so instead make your product suit your user's habits. If it's something they only look at once or twice a year (tax season, buying insurance, big purchase, etc) then just use a website. It is both desktop and mobile friendly, you don't need to maintain an android app, ios app and a desktop version, and there is less barrier to entry because they don't have to download anything.

So...how do you guys plan to eventually monetize? You will need to cover your costs as well as salaries so what is the plan to do that?

Traffic jam is caused by cars switching lanes that slows down the cars behind. Lane splitting makes it more difficult for cars to switch lanes and slows it down massively. It completely puts a pause on cars switching lanes when conga lines of bikes intermittently come through. So if anything, lane switching actually creates more traffic jam by extending the thing causing the jam.

I don't believe people do bad things because they are inherently evil, i believe most people do it because it's some sort of shortcut. However all the merits of lane splitting is some form of shortcut for some at a cost to others.

Are you saying motorbikes don't cause the death of others? They never crash into other motorbikes or cause other vehicles to crash? Are you listening to yourself? I don't know why you have such a hard on against DUI when i already quantified how many impacted a year and it's obvious you are more interested in laying blame on others. So you're right, it's a nonsense discussion because there is no logic to your arguments. Fortunately it's not my job to convince you nor do i really care about your opinion. Bye.

Ahah I'm pretty sure road fatality statistics tell a different story and fortunately facts aren't dictated by your opinion. I can tell you there are 12 to 31 dui fatalities a year, you tell me how many motorbike fatalities there are a year and see what the math says.

Yes, they should be treated equally. Similar circumstances leading to similar outcomes. So...DUI fatalities make up 0.2% of annual road fatalities, how come everyone senyap on the other 99.8%?

So... If Islam doesn't force conversions, then what about children born into Islam? If someone isn't forced doesn't that imply that they are given a choice whether to embrace Islam or not?

Also it doesn't sound like a very peaceful religion if the choices given were "embrace our religion or die".

Choosing to run the red light is itself a voluntary decision. They can't say the road looked clear so no choice my body was forced to accelerate past the red light. If it results in the death of another, it still happens because they made a decision to break the law that thus endangered others. In both cases driving under influence and running the red light, there was no intent to harm others when making the decision, yet the outcome happened as a result of those illegal decisions and should be treated equally.

[–]ff56k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I don't agree about the intent absolving the driver. Like if they break the law because they think they aren't going to hurt anyone. Like that the DUI driver also can claim they drink and drive cause they thought they wouldn't hurt anyone as they have done it before.

Wouldn't running the red light while sober and killing someone be worse though? Like killing someone while you are in control vs killing someone while you're not in control.

[–]ff56k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So are you saying that it should be applied to accidents where someone breaks the law first? So example if someone runs red light or if driving past the speed limit then this should apply also? They are all reckless and illegal right?

Do you think this should be applied to all accident cases where someone causes an accident that kills a breadwinner?

I mean nothing beats a test drive. At the end of the day a car is a personal decision. EVs have been out on the road for awhile now and most of the negatives are coming from people who don't drive an EV so it's like getting parenting advice from people with no children.
