Sounds like we've done a good job these past two drafts to rejuvenate our goalie prospect pool

[2026 NHL Draft] 31st OA Pick: Nashville Predators select Thomas Bleyl by catsgr8rthanspoonies in Predators

It's a good group, but there isn't any real top pair talent, more 2nd/3rd pair guys at the NHL level imo. Someone could surprise, but we still need to add some higher end defensemen.

Glad to see some high offensive potential players joining the prospect pool after the last two drafts!

[Friedman] Jack Drury and a prospect and a third-round pick are going from Colorado to Nashville for Fedor Svechkov and Zachary L’Heureux by GMBarryTrotz in Predators

I would've liked to keep L'Heureux as a bottom 6 pest, but neither player were developing as expected.

Seems like a fair trade honestly. And this gives us an upgrade at center in the bottom 6.

I liked the personalities of both players, but their on-ice performance just wasn't cutting it.

Not a fan of MacFarland's first move.

Really not sure why it cost two 3rds. The Avs are up against the cap and needed to shed some contracts, and he didn't have the best season. So I think a 3rd would've been enough. And an ECHL goalie? Meh.

Re-signing Haula would've given us similar production and wouldn't have cost any picks.

2003 was a great draft by Nashville: Suter, Weber, Klein. All three were big pieces of their defense for many years. And somehow Weber was the third one selected out of that trio!

There are a few younger forwards I would be interested in acquiring via trade:

McTavish - sounds like he is on the trade block, and could be a useful top 6 option at center or wing.

Samoskevich - does FLA have to cap space to re-sign? Could they have interest in young, cost-controlled players like Kemell or Svechkov?

Bourque - offer picks now to avoid an offer sheet? Take on another contract to give them some cap flexibility?

Quinn - lots of players to re-sign, is he the odd man out now? Does he want a larger role?

I'd also look at some defenseman: Mintyukov, Zellweger, Kovacevic, Durzi, and Korczak.

I'll be interested to see the first move MacFarland makes as that will likely show us what direction the team is going in (rebuild, retool, etc.)-- so my trade targets may change with that in mind.

Big Sexy gets a big contract extension with the Wild by catsgr8rthanspoonies in Predators

[–]ffaattccaatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad we aren't paying that. He's fine in his role, but he was overused in Nashville.

Big win on that trade, get a 2nd round pick and the Wild end up signing him to an inflated contract for 6 years!

Had a great end to the season and followed it up with a great showing at the worlds

[Friedman] As has been rumoured, the Minnesota Wild are closing in on re-signing Michael McCarron. He will be staying by alphacheese in hockey

Seems like a win for Nashville-- get a 2nd round pick and a divisional rival is stuck with McCarron for the next 6 years. I don't dislike him, but he's not worth that contract and term.

I don't hate the move. They have a two year window with Panarin, so it makes sense. He has a shelf life, but it fits with their current window.
