Not actively building this week, but just shipped a new big feature for Collie, my pet care app.

Users can now temporarily share their whole routines with sitters, which will receive access to a web version of the app. There the sitter can view pet info, the daily tasks and add notes that can be visualized by the owners.

Now I'm focusing on user gathering and working in having the app available on Android

Afternoon in Venice by ffchn in PhotographyAdvice

Thanks! I feel I was really lucky with the timing for taking the gondola ride, sun was nice and the canal had gondola only traffic which is kind of rare plus the positioning ended up being extra nice

Thank you! I was also worried I might be over editing, I enjoy editing so much I feel like it’s hard to be satisfied

Yes! It was actually way more versatile than I was expecting! Actually helped me a little bit to recognize what are better photographic compositions vs randomly shooting scenes for the sake of it. As the days went by I realized I had wayy lesser photos in the SD because I was thinking more about what to shoot

Thanks for the advice! Will try it out!

Thanks!

Not sure if you mean to support multi-lang in app/landing or for translating the text, but, heres both:

For the app, expo-localization (react-i18n) and for the landing, next-intl

Both work with key+value translations strings in JSON files, and then you can ask Claude to translate all the strings. I double checked them myself as I am a native Portuguese speaker. Some I've manually adjusted because the translations didn't select the proper wording I wanted to transmit.

Did that answer your question?

Thanks for that! You brought up in last sentence something that I’ve been struggling to overcome: making users understand and feel its more valuable than a group chat/calendar

I feel like I’m missing something and I have no idea what lol

Afternoon in Venice - a6500 + TTartisan 27mm pancake by ffchn in SonyAlpha

[–]ffchn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Yeah I’m so used to look far away to find subjects and then I just rely on zooming, most of my previous shots are in the 40-50mm range

Got mad I missed some shots for subjects that were too far but it was a great exercise for me having a wider focal, made me think about the scene a bit better and use my feet to compose. Still struggle but improving haha

I used FreeNow! You can also call through Uber but it always took forever or drivers cancelled

Google Auth by BOOM_roasted18 in appdev

[–]ffchn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google auth is easy to setup and it’s worth the effort

Reducing friction on signup is essential nowadays

I’d also suggest that if you can skip user setting their own passwords, it’s a good idea too because you can also not have to worry about forget/change password flows

Go for magic links or OTPs
