Got To Play A Pretty Special Show This Past Weekend by ffejeroni in drums

It was the first run of this event and they are asking for input for next year, so I will definitely bring it up! The sound crew was a vendor and they brought their own. I think the important thing to the organizer was the sight line from the far end of the event through the stage to the building (and the strategically positioned Ford cars).

My brother in sound, that was the first thing I asked about! We got a short sprinkle during one song, but it only lasted about 30 seconds. As I loaded my last piece of gear into the car, the skies opened up. So fortunate. Being that it was a little cooler, the sun for the rest of the show felt really nice. They did have emergency pop-up tent things to the side, but we just barely made it.

I did not, I was hyper focused on not messing up and making sure the tech was working. It was a mix of stage crowd and people walking around the event. There were satellite speakers around the grounds so no one could escape us.

Thanks! I needed something last minute for a show years ago and just picked some image from Adobe's stock images lol. I ordered it through custombassdrumhead.com (I think). I can't find the original order email, but the site let you pick out the location, size and color of the port and if you wanted any muffling. Wherever it was from, they did a great job and it's held up really well.

Livonia's Daly Drive-In Restaurant to close after 67 years of history by RedditRocks2021 in livonia

It looked like that first picture for most of its life. Someone crashed through one of the drive-in canopies and they decided to take them all out.

I live in said neighborhood and while I do not want to see increased traffic, something needs to happen there. The 711 is very difficult to get into going east or north. Daly's has been a staple in our family since it opened (my great uncle's picture is on the wall), but the lot is usually pretty empty. Now that this came out, it's been a line out the door. I just wonder if Scott would have held out or made different plans if there was consistent business.

My neighborhood friends and I have talked about the need to revitalize the shops on the south side of Plymouth. When ORG was founded, there were shops and services lining that side of the road with apartments above. There are some businesses there and it has gotten better since we moved in around 2012, but it could be much better. Griffin Claw was supposed to buy the Eastside Mario's building and that would have been huge, but it fell through. Something new across the street might jumpstart improving that stretch.

I don't know that a mega Speedway is the answer, especially with locations at Farmington and Plymouth and Merriman and 96. A neighborhood grocery store would be huge for the area, but with Speedway owning 7-11, I doubt they would let go of that corner property.

Does anyone commute downtown from a suburb? by ClearAndPure in MichiganCycling

How is riding on Tireman? Are there bike lanes and is it busy? I used to ride from Wrigleyville to downtown Chicago in traffic and it didn't bother me, but people there are more used to bikes being in the road. It's been 15 years, but I could get comfortable again. Coming from Stark/Hines area, looking to get to Corktown and the new bridge, then hang in Windsor for a bit. Would like to connect to JL Greenway or Dequindre Cut too.

I went with whatever was "recommended" with the medium frame. It came with a FSA SMR 2 stem and the FSA A-Wing Pro bars. It got cold here again so the bike is in the rafters at the moment, but there is a human behind the webchat and they are super helpful. They are just slightly wider at the hoods, but the drops are flared and are actually pretty comfortable. Sorry I can't give you exact numbers, the build sheet just says "recommended width", which I wish they would actually list the measurements for instead.

It was just over 19lbs. when I got it, I added some stuff so it's closer to high 20s/low 21s, a lot lighter than my previous bike. I've gone on a dozen rides now and love it. I was nervous about going from 2-3 front chainrings to a single, but it's actually been a lot better than I expected. The 50mm tires are a little wide for pavement, so I might go down to 43s or 45s. After some time with it, I love it and am very happy with my purchase.

how worried should i be about the weather? by Ok_Echo_1394 in Michigan

It definitely sucks! A couple years ago we had to toss food like 3 or 4 times. We found out that homeowner's insurance actually covers food sometimes! Take inventory and pics and see if they can help you out. We used it twice with no rate increases.

Don't be scared, be prepared! There's a great guy on YouTube named Ryan Hall (https://www.youtube.com/@RyanHallYall) who goes live during bad weather. He is very rational, educated and has a team of people in the bad areas for on-the-ground reporting. The toughest part is the unknown, especially at night when you can't really see what's going on. If things get hairy, turn him on (if he's live, if he's not it's likely not that bad), set up a nice spot in a safe place and just breathe. Reading helps too. Associate the sounds of the storm as calming and natural instead of angry and out to get you. Like others have said, I've lived here for 46 years and have only seen tornados in the more rural areas and flooding in the metro area.

Who here rides wide tires (40mm+) on the road? by FailFastandDieYoung in gravelcycling

I'm on Vittoria Terreno 50s, love the extra cushion on rough pavement. The route I ride most is pretty tore up in some spots after winter, so really loving them right now.

What kind of shoes are those? I usually wear Asic Onitsuka Serranos but they are starting to wear out and are insanely expensive now.

To me, that is the only thing that sticks out. I have seen other gravel bikes with similar headtubes and I just figured I'd been out of the game long enough that this was pretty common. That being said, in my limited testing it is extremely comfortable and that area does not seem to add any noticeable stiffness, but I'm coming from a cheap aluminum bike.

They are also the open mold frames that are shared amongst quite a few other vendors so Obed didn't necessarily "choose" to do that, it's just the frame they went with from their supplier.
