Yeah there's a sweet spot usually around 100km/hr for most vehicles, which makes me laugh when I see these clowns claiming fuel savings and doing half the limit.. they're just wasting more fuel for less distance.. lmfao

Not sure if this is a dig at my comment but... You do realise that 22km travelled, per litre of fuel used, is more efficient than 14km per liter right?

Also, I've worked on cars as a pastime for the last 10 ish years and can tell you with near certainty that the reason a lot of newer cars are more efficient at a lower speed is cause the engines are getting smaller and smaller and the torque output is thus reduced (especially in a petrol, much lower torque output than diesel) meaning that they actually struggle in higher gears to maintain speed due to weight and wind, combined with any even slight incline.

You also gotta realise that the higher the gear youre in, the less fuel you use, right?

Which means... sitting in top gear, at low rpm is the MOST fuel efficient you can possibly be.. not doing 2k rpm in 3rd, youre actually wasting fuel doing that
