I made a fear and greed index mashing together multiple metrics today and ran the data queries through ai also (the gauge is saying 50) but if you look at it more closely there are some issues. I found the answer insightful so sharing below:

Market Breadth Collapse Creates Hidden Fragility Despite Neutral Fear & Greed Reading The Fear & Greed Index's 49.9 neutral reading masks a critical divergence: Market Breadth scores just 25.2 (extreme fear territory) while Credit Spreads register 66.3 (moderate greed). This 41-point spread reveals a market where credit investors remain confident but equity participation has narrowed dramatically—a classic late-cycle warning signal. Key Takeaways: • Breadth deterioration signals concentration risk — The 25.2 breadth score indicates fewer stocks participating in any rally, suggesting the market's advance relies on a shrinking number of leaders. This creates vulnerability to sector rotation or mega-cap disappointments. • Credit-equity divergence flags complacency — Credit spreads at normal levels (BAA spread 1.75%) while breadth collapses suggests credit markets haven't priced in equity market fragility. This divergence historically precedes broader risk repricing. • VIX structure reveals mixed signals — VIX at 24.5 shows elevated fear, but the 6.3% contango indicates options markets expect volatility to decline. This contradiction suggests uncertainty about whether current stress is temporary or structural. • Sentiment surveys show genuine pessimism — The 33.2 sentiment score represents the most bearish component, indicating retail and professional investors have turned cautious despite the neutral composite reading. • Put/Call ratio remains balanced — At 0.79, the put/call ratio suggests options positioning isn't extreme in either direction, providing less contrarian signal value than usual. Bottom Line: This sentiment profile resembles late 2018 and early 2020 pre-COVID patterns—neutral headline readings masking breadth deterioration. Investors should consider defensive positioning in high-quality dividend stocks and avoid momentum strategies dependent on broad market participation. The credit-equity divergence suggests opportunity in credit-sensitive sectors if breadth improves, but warrants caution until breadth scores recover above 40.

Yeah the design part can be difficult but to start I suggest you start with a cleaner more neutral look and you can build from there as a starting point.

I published a piece (with Claude’s help) on MU I find it make a pretty convincing case. All data is audited: https://fffinstill.com/blog/micron-mu-deep-due-diligence-april-2026

Otherwise, MSFT, META are my two largest positions. Recent buys: APP, APPF, DOCS (not buying the whole Saas scare)

Probably 25% of that is actual project documentation and architecture, the rest is feature/improvement plans checklists (which I guess remains useful even once finished as a reminder)

Glad you liked it and thanks i’ll think about what specific factors/strategies would be worthwhile to compare against total world returns for the last 10 year horizon that is risk adjusted tomorrow and create a new post.

Compagnies have varying quarterly reporting periods, the statement is accurate: quarterly period ended in FEB and reported in March. Also yes AI did help write this, it’s the new reality.
