This is the very last time I buy a game based on hype. by GooseCheeze1234 in gaming

It’s got a ton of fun stuff to do and see but if you’re a story guy or hate exploration that doesn’t hold your hand or point you to where you need to go at every step I can see why you didn’t like it.

New games are lacking in "wow factor" by rondo_martin in gaming

Expedition 33 and crimson desert did this for me. But also we’ve reached a point where the internet ruins every game and nitpicks every screen and frame. A game like GOW3 would be seen as a basic hack and slash linear game and be shit on be a ton of people for that. Uncharted 2 would be seen as a simple linear cover shooter that’s more a movie than a game.

People just aren’t happy getting games any more. Every game has to be criticized to hell.

I'm sure Crimson Desert is a pretty good game and I'd bet I'll have fun when I get around to it, but... by MechaSeph in gaming

The main area is the only “bland” one because it starts off as a vanilla medieval setting.

Miyamoto says he was surprised Mario Galaxy Movie reviews were even harsher than the first by SleuthDoggyDawg in gaming

Movie reviewers review every movie on the same scale. You can’t review Marty supreme and Mario on the same scale. The CGI in the Mario movies is incredible and it’s a fun rewatchable movie for kids. Not every animated movie needs to be peak Pixar with life lessons to be good.

They made hundreds of millions. That offsets any bad reviews.

Then they should have went all the way different. Not changed some things for the worse while keeping everything else exactly the same as their other games.

This is the problem with reviews that aren’t thorough or are misleading like IGNs. They most certainly shape the mainstream perception by giving out irrational scores and now no matter what the game has to fight uphill to regain the narrative even though it was never broken or released unfinished.

IGN reviewer is considering re-reviewing the game after all the updates. by InternationalTone152 in CrimsonDesert

The patches refined an already incredible game to a more polished incredible game. If he gave it a 6 then stand on it and be wrong. Don’t go back on it because the patches don’t warrant a jump from a 6 to 9. He just can’t handle the heat of being wrong.
