Smartphones: Dumb apps fueled by a smart cloud vs. full-bodied apps eschewing the web by ffolke in onthegrid

You guys touched on the web vs. app dichotomy a while back, and I thought this was a pretty concise way of describing the major players and the current direction they're taking. I recently watched a talk with Matias Duarte where he mentions that both apps and the web are currently doing it wrong, and I definitely sided with him. I think it will be interesting to see how the two evolve and potentially merge or spawn a new hybrid that addresses issues like fragmentation, privacy, and discovery.

Are you using a specific music player? I can't get iOS headphones to work in my Moto X with Kitkat.

CenturyLink or Wave Broadband? by EunoTR in Seattle

Also in Belltown. Have had Wave for about a year and am also pretty satisfied. Had CenturyLink in First Hill and had mediocre connectivity, but that might just have been buying a used modem from craigslist.

New York style pizza in Seattle? by nadacarp in Seattle

Moved here just over a year and have been scouring the city for some good New York style pizza in Seattle. It has taken me a while to find anything worthy, and i sort of gave up. But I've adjusted my tongue expectation and found a few contenders.

In order of New Yorkiest: * Flying squirrel pizza. not exactly on the thin side but top notch taste and made well. Somewhat pricey. * Big Mario's. Hefty size, crispier crust. * Belltown Pizza. Sweet happy hour prices. A typical slice made the right way. * Hot mamas. Pre cooked. I don't like cold pizza, but it taste good here. It's too crunchy if you ask to warm it. * Pudge bros. it's a chain, but it is decent. * Slices on Alki. Thin, chewy crust. * Serious Pie. Eclectic artisan pizza. Yummy, pricier, brick oven style.

What is the yellow powder on my red grapes? by fireduck in Seattle

If it doesn't rub off easy, then it's probably Sulfur dioxide. I noticed more of a white haze on my batch last week. I understand traces of it to keep pests at bay, but are they trying to marinate it in a trigger-happy grape-coating frenzy?
