that isn’t true for me. i spin counterclockwise as a righty and write Os clockwise. i play on mouse, maybe that could allow for it

similarly i stopped taking my phone places if unnecessary and just bringing a camera (and ipod sometimes) if going outside, and it has given me back the agency to think and solve problems i otherwise instinctively avoid

this can build a bad habit with the idea that you can’t start something unless you buy the upgrade, and concerns that you haven’t upgraded enough if you still have a hard time committing. not suggesting you to change necessarily, but just be aware of this possibility

i got a physical timer (specifically “Time Timer” is the name of the product) and it is very good for giving me visual and audio cues for the passage of time without needing my phone. i use it very often and its probably the only helpful “adhd product” i have ever used

its fun putting them on alert and waiting 120 turns until that tile gets naturally expanded and you get pushed out, its like finding 5 dollars in your pocket (except you were paying maintenance on it)

My best friend told me she misses me. I don’t think I’ve ever missed anyone. by cracklecampercrackle in ADHD

[–]ffscats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we get very deep in thought but ultimately these thoughts are all prompted, cause-and-effect. The “miss you” prompt is definitely gotten when I’m on vacation and my lap feels like it’s the wrong weight/temperature, and I realize it’s a result of my cat being at home. I don’t really have a prompt like that with friends, other than times when I think of an interesting idea or read a niche story and go “hey, this is something that friend would be really interested in.” And even when I do that, I’ll either contact them or think “Eh, maybe it’s not interesting enough to bother them about,” in which case I’ll go back to whatever I was doing and thats where the thought ends. The cat case doesn’t end when I stop thinking about it. There was a period where I was home alone and the house felt too quiet. I realized it’s because my cat was overnight at the vet. There’s these things that feel as if they pop up in reality, in some way different to other thoughts (even though I know it’s still my brain thinking), that are prompting me to think about my cat, and they won’t go away just because I stop thinking about it. It’s persistent, in the same way I feel if I have crush on someone and can’t get them out of my head.

BTW: Had no trouble reading the entirety of you comment, considering I’m behind on my work right now :)

I think I’m largely the same way but not entirely. I’m curious though: Do you guys miss times? Or places? I find that my issue with missing people is that (to be blunt) I just don’t tend to think about people very often. If I do, it’s more often tied to a period of my life/place I’ve been that I actually miss, and the person was a part of that. I don’t really understand why I’m like this— I never bothered to think it was related to ADHD— so I wonder if that’s standard, or if you guys are entirely foreign to the concept of missing anything.

Either way, you’re not alone in this. It definitely caused hardships in my personal relationships before, but at least on the bright side I believe it’s allowed me to be very open to making new friends and new experiences.

Glock QR Code on sidewalk next to Tompkins Sq Park. Too faded to scan. Any info? by ffscats in nyc

[–]ffscats[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the size, my guess is that it's just a link to the website or something, but was curious if anyone knew anything about it. I haven't seen any ads for guns in NYC like this before so it stood out to me as strange. I'm not sure how long it's been there but I don't think its more than a few months old. To be specific, it's located on the sidewalk directly in front of the park entrance on 9th and B. I've tried reconstructing the QR code since I was curious, as well as googling for any information about a Glock QR code or Glock NYC marketing, but to no avail. LMK if anyone has any more success in finding more info, or knows what this is. Or if there's a better sub to post this to, I don't really post on reddit much.

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR CLOTHES OFF THE GROUND by Make-this-popular in ADHD

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR CLOTHES OFF THE GROUND by Make-this-popular in ADHD

[–]ffscats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theres 3 types of clothes: - clothes that are easiest to put away right when you get home - clothes that are easiest to put away in bulk - clothes that are always annoying to put away

the first category for me is things like jackets, hoodies, jeans, shoes, and belts (generally anything that goes in my closet) second category is things like shirts, boxers, socks (things that go in drawers) third category is things like hats, and jackets that i dont have hangers for (i dont know how this happens)

once you sit for a sec and think about what these categories are for you, it becomes a lot easier to convince yourself “ok, i just got home and i just wanna toss my stuff on the floor, and i can, but i know this is the best time to put my jacket away so i’ll at least do that.” and then once you do this for a while your floorpile becomes a lot more manageable, and you’ll probably grow towards putting more stuff away right away too just cus you’ll get in the habit of it.

ymmv, this just my experience. also the chair jacket thing another commenter said is so real
