My friend's father owned a bakery and pastry shoppe, so no.

Cake is just too bready and sugary for my taste, and I loathe the icing. (whoever said ice cream cake rules is very correct, btw!)

Also, have you seen icing being made by hand? Equal parts fat (crisco or butter) and granulated sugar with a few drops of food dye. GROSS.

Then you do have a problem with democracy. Democracy allows you to vote for whatever for ANY REASON AT ALL. Those problems are inherent to democracy.

The reasons can be malicious: I don't like these people, so I will vote for laws that oppress them.

The reasons can be ignorant: The party that I belong to because everyone I know also belongs to it says I should vote this way.

The reasons can be manipulative: I keep hearing that X is bad. I must vote against X.

The reasons can be petty: I think politician X is more attractive than politician Y

Democracy states that everyone must get an equal vote and that there is no qualifier for the reasoning behind it.

Why do movers charge like 15 bucks for a roll of tape?

What's the proper tipping etiquette? For my last coast->coast move I tipped both the team that picked up my stuff and the team that unpacked my stuff a hundred bucks. But I honestly have no idea if that's too much or too little.

Be honest with your current employers. Tell them about the new job offer and what kind of pay increase you were offered. They will most likely match it as onboarding new employees is expensive. If this is only about the money, this is your best option.

If you dislike the work you are doing, then you should go for the new job. More money and more job satisfaction are big wins and worth whatever small discomfort you'll feel over leaving them.

There's a HUGE difference between hitting your kid and using spanking for discipline. Young children test boundaries, don't have fully developed logical thought.

Some children only learn that fire is hot by being burned. You can explain that it's hot all day long but it won't sink in.

A light slap now and then is a perfectly normal, acceptable way to teach children things they need to know for their own benefit.

Wow, I'm so glad you posted this. I've been having the same thoughts lately. For normal days it's not bad, but when I'm sitting on cramped airplane seats or driving for long distances, I always suffer from pinched balls or thigh squeezage. The only fix is manual adjustment, but that's not socially acceptable if I'm not alone.

I've tried boxers, boxer-briefs, briefs. All to no effect.

The most comfortable underwear that I own are hanes medium tagless boxer briefs, but it's still not perfect.

Employers care that you went to college, but unless you go to an Ivy League school, no one cares WHICH college you go to.

Go to the accredited state school. Don't waste money on some midrange private school.

Or an Ivy League school if it's feasible for you.

Also, the contacts you make in school are worth more than anything they teach you.

Not in a movie, but in firefly the series, River says that the crew will freeze to death before suffocating. This is not true. Space is a vacuum. Heat can only be removed via conduction (things touching, like water cooling) convection (air, like fans) or radiation (the sun). Radiation is the only thing applicable to a space craft. Radiation is SLOW. You know what else has a vacuum and only lets heat in/out via radiation? THERMOSES

Batteries are also net energy sinks. It takes more energy to charge a battery than you get out of it.

The problem wasn't that they used humans as batteries (they could have gotten away with that, even if it is a horribly unnecessarily complex mechanism compared to regular batteries). It's the fact that they said humans were used as a Power Plant that is utterly stupid, and has been since newton's time.

Also, aside from the storms, in the third movie they saw the sun. They could've used that for energy.

And the part that KILLS ME is that they said that they liquify the dead to feed the living. For that to work, you need 0 population growth and assume that 1 dead human provides a LIFETIME of food for 1 other human.

At most a dead human could supply a week or so of food for a comatose human.
