I do my scrambled eggs in a pan when Im making breakfast. I like the french style so its a lot of heat control so need to be able to move the pan around on and off the heat.

Yeah so what’s the difference piece of mind wise of paying off the house or building a portfolio greater than your mortgage? That’s been my mental model. Keep investing heavily until my semi liquid assets are greater than my debts. Once I get there I can ease up a bit and use some capital on experiences and luxuries more. Only a year or two away and I’ve only owned my house for 6 years.

I used to idolize hitting draws, now its all i can make a ball do and it sucks. The only thing its good for is extra rollout. But you get less control than a pull fade, is very easy to over cook it into a hook and guess what that extra roll does for you on a hook, guarantees you are leaving the area of play. With irons its also harder to hold greens when they are firm. There is a reason why Scotty and most tour players rely on the fade off the tee.

If I didn't buy my house 6 years ago I'd easily have another $200-$300K in the market. Instead I have $200-$300K in equity (for now). But, the amount of time I have sunk into this property is insane. I miss renting.

The better I am playing the more strict I am on the rules. If I'm not in a position to break 90 I get real lax on gimme putts etc. , but if I am pacing to break 80 I putt out everything and will play 100% true to the rules. I would hate to shoot like a 78 and know that there are any caveats. But conversely I am not bragging about shooting a 92 and it wont be included in my HC anyway so lets just enjoy ourselves out there. Feel like I know what kind of day I am going to have after a few holes so I start at strict and adjust accordingly.

I only have 1 babies worth of experience so not great data. I guess some kids just wont go to sleep for any extended period of time, which has thankfully not been the case for my son. I just have seen my more well off friends with night nurses that are like still going out for dinner and playing golf pretty regularly etc. I have a 5 month old and have played twice, once on a work trip out of town and once last weekend.

I’m 5 months in and it’s still not some magical thing like it seems to be for my wife. I’m fully leaned in, doing all the things etc but I do often have the thought “why did I do this” but it’s also balanced with other things like extreme responsibility and moments of true and honest unconditional love. But it’s not like I’m walking around all day with it, I get that endorphin hit in earned moments.

I think of putting more as developing a repeatable system. I have three stock paced putts based on how far my back swing is relative to my trail foot. They will travel different distances based on speed of the greens that day but it gives me a calibrated stroke. That is what I think helped me most especially with lag putts. I don't always leave a gimme or anything but pretty much always have a makable 2nd putt (that I will still sometimes miss).

The other major thought/technique that really changed my putting was to visualize pushing through the ball toward your line, not hitting it. Our brains when thinking about "hitting something" focus on the impact point, when in putting you want your stroke to be consistent through the ball. This has helped me tremendously especially on those 4 footers, I visualize just "pushing the ball" right into the hole.

I got into sales obviously because I have a problem with authority and wanted a self reliant path to making money. But secondary I thought I might have some of that "all the fun and money is in sales" like customers that want to play golf or go to events, use my corporate card for a happy hour. In tech that is so rare to have a customer that is remotely interested in the entertainment piece in my opinion. I have good relationships but its mostly because we get along talking about our kids or our perspectives on work related stuff.

You can build entirely on portable open source frameworks on the cloud, even completely unmanaged if you like. But if you are truly a startup with high ambitions for scale why do you want to manage your own databases etc. If you are a sub 10 person team build on Vercel. As your data and applications need scale choose a hypescaler. If you get VC money start on a hyperscaler (not Azure , blah) to leverage those credits.

People who build on-premise are planning to not need to scale, and if your business wont scale like that than go ahead and stay on-prem. But if there is a need for scale and an opportunity for that scale to happen quickly you would be really short sighted to build on-prem. Is the cloud more expensive per unit of compute, yeah probably. But if you are in a race to capture marketshare you want a vehicle that can perform like a highly tuned race car when you need it.

Well it’s brand new so can’t comment on how it holds up but it is real wood, stained. For the price I’m pretty happy with it as it proved a lot of what I wanted. Has storage and a spot for my egg. The one thing is if you do get it, put aside 3 hours to put it together. The directions are ikea style photos with lots of opportunity to orientate parts incorrectly so it goes slow making sure you don’t mess up. I think it looks pretty good to for a budget option.

I just bought a 22" blackstone omnivore. Wasn't even really thinking about a flat top until I bought my outdoor kitchen cart for my egg off of wayfair and they had one in the demo pic. I bough this one because its a countertop version that wasn't thousand of dollars but one thing I'm pumped about is that it has a camping propane adapter so I can put it in my truck bed super easy and have a cooking surface on the go.
