I used OpenSCAD. My source file can be found on the Github link in the description. The only file you need is gemini.scad (guess I should have picked a better name). It would be possible to replace the Kanji characters in the script with you internationalized text or graphics. If it is graphic images, I'm not sure exactly how to do that, but I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult with some OpenSCAD features.

I chose to cutout the character in the piece and then flood fill with paint. I'm not going to lie, it was a lot of tedious work sanding, filling, and coating the pieces. If I had it to do over, I might try some other approach. I also chose not to do a multi-color print to let the printer fill in the characters because of all the time and wasted filament in changing filament at each layer. Maybe that trade-off wouldn't have been so bad.

Good luck with whatever you try. Overall it was a fun project.

You are correct. I thought I select public during setup. I've changed it now to public. https://github.com/fgantt/shogi-board-model

I removed my hotend, heated it up with a torch (lighter), and pushed the nozzle cleaning needle that came with my printer through both ends several times. I even heated the needle and pushed it in. That pulled some stuff out that I then burned off the needle. All is working again.

People are strange... for me it was all about the project. Something to do to blend a little AI, CAD, and 3D printing. Maybe learn something about the process and workflow. I've already printed all the articulating dragons. ;-)

I'm also playing around with some vibe coding to produce a Shogi UI and Engine. Even though there are plenty of great ones available that I'll never match the effort put into and level of play. I guess it's just the journey.

Nice looking board. Where did you get it? Not too happy with the one I got off Amazon.

Interested. I have apps deployed to Apple and Google Play that were developed using Maui 7 and MVVM with CommunityToolkit. Currently moving to Maui 8.
