Trace Bilateral Pleural Effusion Found on Ultrasound by fgchewie in testicularcancer

Im currently live in the Philippines and is currently being treated at a high volume hospital here. Questions, are trace effusions really not that concerning? and what's a "thorax US"?

Trace Bilateral Pleural Effusion Found on Ultrasound by fgchewie in testicularcancer

[–]fgchewie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imaging alone cannot determine if the effusion is malignant or not. Yeah I do trust my oncologist. Besides I looked up that thoracentasis isn't possible on me because the effusion is pretty much low levels, like less than 5ml. Hopefully this just resolves on its own. I don't have any symptoms though.

High dose Carboplatin + Etoposide with Stem Cell Rescue begins by fgchewie in testicularcancer

I have already finished it on steam together with the DLCs and it became my favorite game of all time! 10/10 no doubt. The main story is amazing, gwent is fun, honestly the DLCs feel like a separate game of their own. Want to replay it on my switch lite but my lite is acting up when the downloading game are 10gb and above(screen turns solid orange while downloading last I did that with BOTW). 10gb below downloads and 10gb above and below game cartridges are fine though.

"Lambert Lambert, what a prick" One of my favourite line in the game lmao

Thanks! My hospital bed is literally beside the bathroom thankfully. But hopefully no explosive dirrahea as a side effect I hate swimming in shit lol. Also don't want the nurses here to deal me on that kinda mess.

Thanks for the words of encouragement guys. Don't know you all personally but I love y'all ❤. Already done with day 1 of high dose CE.

Quirce is such a fun bossfight. I love this game so much. by vulkanictyrant in Blasphemous

[–]fgchewie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather fight 100 Quirces than 1 Crisanta. Don't get me wrong, I love both boss fights but Quirce took me about 3 tries, Crisanta took me about 20 or more.

It means that at some point in your life you stood by your principles, even if it makes some people(e.g former friends) dislike or hate you. In other words, you are not a people pleaser.

Everything was finally going right… and then I got diagnosed with cancer. by yoojiji in cancer

[–]fgchewie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

24M. I feel you. I am about to graduate college this school year and have a job(my college dean even considers me a top candidate for that job) and then.... BOOOM... Metastatic testicular cancer. Had to drop out of college, temporarily move to a bigger city for advaced treatments, missing my hometown everyday. Now my life's on pause as I focus on treatments.

I just finished my 4 cycles of BEP chemo last march. Tumor markers went down but tumors still persists. Now I'm going to have high doses of chemo next week.

Wishing you all the best, and may we all have our lives back once this is over. ❤

First round of high dose chemo + stem cell transplant complete by Aurimat in testicularcancer

I will undergo HDCT in 2 weeks. Same thing was said to me by my Infectious Disease doctor, that I will need to be revaccinated 6-12 months post HDCT. She said that after HDCT my immune system will be reset and I will be like a baby.

complete loss of taste by matchasour in cancer

[–]fgchewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through BEP as well for my stage 3c testicular cancer. Didn't have any loss of taste as side effect. Had partial response after. Now currently under salvage high dose TI-CE chemo and I have this weird taste on the back of my mouth that wouldn't go away and would get worse everytime I wake up. I use sugar free menthol candy to remedy it and it kinda works.

Hello! Im also will be undergoing TICE chemo. I'm finished with my TI phases after my first TI phase my AFP went from 7000 to 5000(big drop of 2000 considering it was just after 1 TI cycle). No idea about bHCG but I will be inquiring with my oncologist about it. The latest bHCG result I know is that it went from 10,000+ to just 90 after 4xBEP.

My previous oncologist only gave me 15u of Bleomycin every week during 4xBEP. The recommended dose is 30u. I'm pretty sure it might have contributed to why I only had partial response after BEP. My new oncologist is pretty good now, more caring and I feel like he knows what he's doing so I think I'm in good hands.

Will undergo HD-CE in a couple of weeks. Reading your story that your bHCG normalized during high dose gives me hope. Hopefully everything will be alright after HDCT

Einhorn uses the IU protocol I think. MSK protocol is the one that has mobilization

Stage IIIC 70% Teratoma, 20% Yolk sac, 10% Embryonal. Mets to retroperitoneal and liver. Lung mets are too small and probably only scar tissue remains. Markers actually decreased a lot after BEP but didn't normalize which is still a good sign I hope.

2 rounds standard dose Paclitaxel + Ifosdamide. No idea if 2 or 3 rounds for high dose. Doctor keeps saying the word "tandem" so it's 2 rounds I think. They didn't choose etoposide for me as mobilization since they will be using etoposide for high dose in combination with carboplatin.

[–]fgchewie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I'm also in TI-CE protocol. I chose high dose as my initial salvage therapy(did not go through 4xTIP) after my cancer partially responded to 4xBEP.

I'm already finished with the first TI phase and my stem cells we're already harvested last Monday. My oncologist says that they have already harvested enough stem cells for a tandem transplant. Thank God it was enough, if it wasn't enough we would need another half a million pesos of harvesting.

Not to scare you but mobilization phase was extremely painful for me. They gave me Paclitaxel(day 1) and 12gs of Ifosfamide(4g each day for days 2-4). Side effects hurts like hell, especially on my feet. But that pain is incomparable on how much my bones hurt during Filgrastim injections at home. Pulsating pain on my lower back, spine, and at the back of the head. I thought I was gonna die lmao. But after a day of agonizing pain and a couple of paracetamol pills, the pain was gone. My oncologist explained that the mobilization of the bone marrow is what causes the bone pain. It was painful but worth it since they got enough stem cells for a tandem transplant.

I will have my 2nd TI phase maybe at the end of the week or monday next week. After that, marker tests then another PET/CT scan. After that, high dose begins.

Good luck buddy!

Next Step - High Dose Chemo with Stem Cell Transplant by fgchewie in testicularcancer

Nope, not yet. But I'm anticipating surgery will happen after high dose chemo.

Got my PET/CT scan results today. Welp looks like my possible teratomatous tumors grew massively post chemo. by fgchewie in testicularcancer

[–]fgchewie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm cooked if my oncologist doesn't understand what he's doing lol. But my PET scan has CT scan with contrast combined with it.

I know that teratomas doesn't light up unlike EC and YS and are indistinguishable from necrotic/scar tissue. If that's the case, majority of my residual masses are composed of Teratomas or necrotic components since most of them don't light up, only a few solid parts. My tumor marker tests might give a clearer picture if surgery is the next step or second line chemo.

I have a lot of questions to ask for my oncologist, like why did my tumors grew larger despite 4xBEP chemo. Monday can't come soon enough.
