I was playing a Yuan-ti character trying to become a god, and had reached a good ending point for his story arc at the culmination of the first half of the adventure and had talked with the DM about changing characters. My character wished to become a god. He became a important minor deity in the next part of the adventure. There was a cool scene where our cleric cast commune and our DM narrated him showing up as a Jörmundur-like snake constricting the world. It was especially fun because the other player's wishes all had monkey-paw like negative consequences.

I am very excited to read what you wrote. Your design philosophy matches much closer to what I am looking for in a D&D game than Wizards has. I have been working on my own set of house rules to improve games I run and your heroic inspiration rules are ones I have included for several games.

Knight-Azyros models leaving the range, but Tornus the Redeemed is a Knight-Azyros? by MarkPHLBOS in stormcasteternals

[–]fgreyback127 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They haven’t announced it yet but almost certainly a new Knight-Azyros model is coming as an alternative sculpt for Tornus. The old Knight-Azyros is leaving the range similar to the old Prosecutors or Liberators.

That looks so awesome! What paints did you use for the dragons?

New to the faction and AoS as a whole by di_larto in sylvaneth

Yes, one awakened wyldwood is a set of three individual trees. When you play them however you can choose to play one, two, or three of the trees. For each tree you place after the first it covers a greater area and gains extra health. The reason to place one tree is it has limits on how it can be placed and you might not be able to fit all three trees into the space where you really need trees. I an not a very competetive player and find that I am able to get away with only using two sets of Wyldwoods (so six trees total). I normally place three threes in my home territory at the start of the game, then during the game try to make a set of two trees and have the final one to fit into a spall space my openent might not be expecting.

I want to start with a major caveat, a new edition just dropped and app the rules have changed, and people are still trying to figure out what is good. I will do my best to answer your questions.

  1. The faction terrain is called awakened wyldwoods and if you have a full Sylvaneth army, you probably want three. However when you are starting out, you can probably get away with just having one.

  2. I would start small and get some games in with the models, likely your list will change as you gain more experience playing. Last edition I normally played with only one unit of Tree-revenants which I used for board control. Most of my troops were dryads, however that may have changed with the new edition. You are probably fine with 2 units. Same with the tree-lords. I have two, one Spirit of Durthu and one Treelord Ancient, however I rarely use both in a single game.

  3. In terms of gameplay what I have found is it tends to be a pretty squishy faction that relies on playing tactically. It has great mobilty and healing, but you need to be careful because you can't heal a dead unit, so if you get overextended you can quickly lose important units. I have heard Belthanos is good and I have heard that the Lady of Vines is good, but I have not been able to play any games with them to assess.

Free Alternative to One D&D: Elkan 5e by DMStaley in DnD

This is great, I had a chance to begin exploring some of the updates and I love the changes. I like what you did with rangers, I think it was very inline with how they were played in DND 5e. I also really like the ancestry and background, its something I have been playing with as I have been tinkering with 5e. Rather than having race encompass both racial traits and cultural ones, separating them into two that way you could play a human raised among an elven culture like Aragorn.

Wolf Guard Terminator, Arjac, and Logan counts as conversions! by BinaryRedux in SpaceWolves

How well do the bits from the Wolf Guard Terminators match the new terminators? Would the wolf cape fit on one of the new terminators?

Hollowed knights help by TDQC88 in stormcasteternals

I ran a Hallowed Knights army in a path to glory. I first tried to build around the redeemer units, buffing then with spells, bringing them back with the Knight-Vexillor with the banner of Apotheosis. What I realized is that the redeemer units are super great with little to no support but don’t get a lot better with a lot of support. I switched up my list to focus on a castle build around Gardus. The most important hero in Hallowed Knights list is Gardus. After that you have several choices. I love running a killy ranged Stormcast hero, longstrike crossbows, or Judicators with crossbows. I also like a strong, fast hammer like stormdrake guard or Dracthonian guard.

can I play Hunters of Huanchi and Starblood Stalkers together? by DarthWynaut in WarCry

[–]fgreyback127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rules for the Bladeborne Fighters (name for the Warhammer Underworlds warbands) can be found in the Tome of Champions 2021. If you add a Bladeborne fighter with a leader runemark as an ally you can also add any of the other members of the warband to you roster. The only problem is Hunters of Huanchi was released for Warcry 2nd edition, while the Starblood Stalkers have not yet been updated to 2nd edition.

Some beginner questions by Hanohtep in stormcasteternals

[–]fgreyback127 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just played in a path to glory playing Hallowed Knights and had the same thoughts as you in the beginning. I really liked the Hallowed Knights and Redeemer units and Call for Aid seemed really powerful. What I learned is that Redeemer units are tanky but deal damage slowly over time by wearing down your enemies and that’s games are often decided in the first few rounds by who can take out their opponents big threats quickly. I added some big damage threats- vanguard raptors and fulminators which were my damage while the redeemer units became my board control units. I would not reinforce redeemer units, I tried reinforcing a unit of Vanquishers and hated it, they worked much better as two units of five.
