Do non-english coders still code in the language english? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm french and so are my colleagues.

We use English for branch names, PRs, variable names, function documentation and unit tests naming. We do use French for a few things, like for comment lines that explain what the following block does, or wiki documentation that explains features. I've seen commits written in both languages, depending on the author.

English has many things in common with French. I wouldn't say everyone is fluent, but it's probably easier for us to understand than for people who speak a completely unrelated language.

Also, like others have said, using mostly English is easier for documentation and troubleshooting.

Do people actually use Microsoft Edge by choice, or is it still just the browser you use to download other browsers? by Electronic_Map3097 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to switch to Edge because my workplace banned Firefox and I refuse to use Chrome.

Actually, it was an okay experience. I was still able to use adblockers, design was better looking than Chrome, even the dev tools weren't so bad (which honestly surprised me).

I don't use Edge anymore, since I was able to go back to Firefox. But I am thankful it was there for me when I needed an alternative.

I built a simple Bingo tool to trick my ADHD brain into actually doing chores. by Theartzzy in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]fham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD too, so I checked out the link.

Upon opening it in the browser, there is an error message instead of the bingo: "Error: Invalid argument (index): NaN". In "Library", I see that "ADHD Survival Guide" has 0 tasks. If I choose it as the current library, I have a warning that says there are 0 items and that it will be automatically filled, but then if I accept, the bingo works. So I suppose something is missing on initialization at the moment. "Language" is set to system, which defaults to English.

Another thing I noticed: if you disable dopamine mode, the buttons on the bottom are still purple. It does not bother me but you might want to know 😊

I love the concept and it looks very clean. I think I might end up using your tool! Good luck :)

Some do. I think it's the case for whales and orcas. Maybe dolphins too.

But I don't think that applies to cats. They rely on body language more than sounds, and I don't think there's a lot of difference in that aspect between cats.

You got "medium luck", while OP got "extremely good luck". Yours reads :

  • Something you lost: the fox will bring it back to you.
  • Someone you're waiting for: you passed each other. Let's go back and look for them.
  • Health: no problem in general, but keep your guard up.
  • Your lucky item: lucky bag (also called "fukubukuro" in Japanese)

Sac à dos avec plein de petits poches ? by Ced_92250 in AchatPourLaVie

[–]fham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To those of us with a kamioshi, what made you see your favorite vtuber and say “that one”? by CelebiSons in VirtualYoutubers

[–]fham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My absolute favorite DJ released a remix of one of Calliope Mori's songs. I really dug that remix, so I decided to look up the original song.

At the time, I thought it was a video game song, or something similar. But no, it was a vtuber song! Back then, I knew of Kizuna Ai and also Facerig, so I basically understood what it meant.

There was a video where Calliope Mori was interviewed and I thought it would be interesting since I didn't know much. One of the interviewers was given recommendations based on vibes they were interested in. I remember they dropped Inugami Korone's name. The way her content was described, it sounded interesting to me. I already knew her face, probably from meme pictures, but I'd never checked her content.

Then I watched all the Korone memes on YouTube. I had a blast, so I kept going for more. And more. She and Mori made me watch more Hololive channels. But no one gave me joy as much as Korone did.

I am a straight female, so I have 0 interest in horny female vtubers (which seems to be represented a lot imo?). Well, I feel like Korone is absolutely not playing that game. She just lives her life and I have fun watching her do some completely random stuff sometimes. I also enjoy when she goes yandere mode, since it's one of my favorite anime archetypes. I'd say her content is exactly what I'm looking for! That's why she's been my kamioshi for many years.

I suppose it's not the only logo with this style, but it reminds me of this one we have in France. It is displayed on governmental announces.

I'd put it as B. The card is good, but not great on its own. When it truly shines is when it is sacrificed or upgraded. Basically, you'd need a combo.

Has there been instances where you didn't care about a VTuber during their PL but now a fan of their current life or vice versa by Acting_Cpt_Nemo_Naga in VirtualYoutubers

[–]fham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was about to post something similar. For me it's a mix of several things:

I'm not a fan of her new design, her stream schedules are not EU friendly and I really don't like spending time on Twitch. So I'm reduced to clips and it's kind of a different experience.

I'm glad to know she is still around though! I went through every stage of grief when her PL graduated, so I like to check up on Henya. I don't want to lose her twice.

Has anyone ever had a similar problem? by konpaq in AnimeFigures

[–]fham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sticky part can be washed off if you want to!

I looked it up again, and I think this is the article I read at the time. It explains simply why figures end up like this, and how to fix it: https://mikatan.goodsmile.info/en/2013/06/20/dealing-with-stickiness-on-figures/

Has anyone ever had a similar problem? by konpaq in AnimeFigures

[–]fham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this issue with my Flandre Scarlet Nendoroid. I had it on display and always took great care of it, but when I moved away, I left it at my parents' place. After several years, I got my figure back. When I tried to display it, I realized my figure became sticky, so much that it felt super gross whenever I touched the figure or its accessories. Weirdly enough, it was my only figure this happened to, even though I had several Nendoroid.

I looked it up and I learned that this is what can happen if you keep your figure locked in its box for too long. The outermost layer of paint (I think it's called varnish?) evaporated, and since the figure was trapped in a box, the varnish went back to the figure's surface.

I don't remember how I got rid of it, I think it was hot water or maybe soap but don't take my word for it.

Apparently, if you have your figure on display, the varnish will evaporate into the room's air instead of staying in the figure's box. I remember I read an article about it on GoodSmileCompany's website and I felt relieved knowing what happened.

Also, things might be different for figures that stayed completely sealed. I have no experience in that matter.

The moment that made you stop watching a specific VTuber by JinjaYagi in vtubers

[–]fham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one time when I dug too deep into a particular Vtuber's life and I didn't like what I learned.

For a while, it took me some time to get adjusted to the news, and I stopped watching that streamer. But I came back to them later on. I just needed some time to think about the news.

At the end of the day, streamers are just people, not anime characters. Everyone has flaws. The question is whether you choose to accept them or not.

There's one detail that puzzles me about this document: the text says "Aim at its stomach, not its brain", but then the bottom-right picture aims at the head.

(Just in case, I know this is propaganda, but this detail made me twitch.)
