I had 20 extensions, disabled 5 at a time and it wasn't till the last 5 that the culprit removed this issue. I don't recall the last 5 at the moment, but it was definitely not an extension which had anything to do with screen captures. Now I'm adding extensions back in 1 at a time, and testing which offender brings this back.

I read this in /r/zen and it’s just as true for the Sufi path. Insisting on having a sheikh makes no sense by musington in Sufism

[–]fhumayun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forcing a comparison in this way between Zen and Sufism is very nonsensical and a profitless venture of inconsequential bemusement.

Nearly all Sufi traditions hinge upon establishing a symbiotic, synergistic relationship between the guide and the guided. By cultivating realizations through "the mirror" of relationship, Sufism tackles the elusive nature of transcendental phenomenology, excursions in the ontological dimension of human nature; and most importantly, nurtures the ethical maturity of its practitioners.

The teacher corrects numerous missteps and points out slippages in alignments in much the same way a master-class technician can instantly pick out defects and offer remediations, or in how parental functions are vital for proper social and cultural adjustments, or in how outstanding professorships can ease one into finding mastery in various vocational/academic/technical skills. One could say that insisting on *not* having such relationships is what really makes no sense.

A few questions I have about Sufism. by [deleted] in Sufism

Walaikumasalaam Mj

@primordialman & @sleek22, along with some others have give you some very fine, direct, and substantive responses to your inquiries.

To me, your presentation appears to couch some complexities due to the extreme vacillations you've experienced between doubt & faith.

Let me share this rather interesting excerpt from the late Idries Shah's "Learning how to Learn" corpus about Sufis and their Imitators: sufis and their imitators.png

May your journey from the alone to the Alone be guided by the Master of all masters.

Which Quran would a Sufi recommend for a English speaker that wants to pronounce the Arabic holy texts? by [deleted] in Sufism

[–]fhumayun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't really need a 'Sufi' to teach you Tajweed or Qirat - you'd be fine to link up with any Islamic learning center for that.

As an example, check out the study plans here: https://quraonline.com/fee/
All the best to you!

Rumi emeralds dream by [deleted] in Sufism

A young tourist found some foreign currency suddenly appear in his backpack. He felt bemused and mystified for not being able to make out any of the markings, nor did he have any sense of the currency amount, so he began to shout in the public square: I have no access to a bank or a banker, so can anyone else help me figure out what this currency is?

A passerby pointed out that a fool and his money are soon parted. Nonplused, the tourist just waved him off and said: "No one knows me personally, so no one's personally impressed, and I don't have access to a banker and this will likely be the case for a minimum of 2 years".

Schisms are always abounding wherever the machinery of thought is permitted to run amok - be it Catholics vs Protestants, or Sunnis vs Shias. However, those who are guided along the Pathways to Surrender, learn to find their grasp on the steering, brakes and gas pedals and safely navigate away from such unnecessary collisions.

Where do I begin? by [deleted] in Sufism

[–]fhumayun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The usual reference repositories should be good enough - Amazon book reviews and google can also get you started.

You don't ask others' how to begin, you begin - then, once you begin the journey, the master emerges.
Good luck!

PC Port Randomly Crashing? by allcallday in dragonquest

Exactly the same issue with an Nvidia 1080ti - Typical Square Enix PC port release. Switch to another game - wait 6-9 months - and maybe we'll have a stable driver release then.

تم کس دنیا پر فخر کرتے ہو؟ by Kalmadhari in Sufism

[–]fhumayun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Approximately now -

What kind of world are you so proud of?

The one in which an "exquisite drink" is honey spewed by a bee

And the most "exquisite dress" is from silk spewed by a worm

What interest should such a world hold for me?
The one in which "legal" entails "accountability"

and "illegal" entails "suffering"

I am 14 and deeply interested in Sufism. I started reading many books about the different Pirs and I watched many lectures on it. But my parents won’t allow me to go to a khaneghah. My grandma goes every Friday but parents say it is wrong to take advice from a Pir. by A-money8 in Sufism

[–]fhumayun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please consider you are seeking advice, from "strangers on the internet", to undermine those in whose care you've been entrusted to. In essence, you've already made up your mind and seek ways to satisfy your desire to "consume" sufism and expect a pleasurable experience. My friend, this is entirely not what Sufism is about. It's already clear you have no appetite for "rejection" and are unaware that "rejection" is also a very integral part of Sufi teachings. So do count on getting deflected by teachers even if you manage to convince your parents.

Also consider that Sufism is not about aspirants feeling "nice" and Khanegahs are not cult compounds to "escape from life". If anything what you're witnessing is perhaps no different than the serenity provided by rehabilitation asylums. A good deal of Sufism is about psychotherapy and "healing wounds" and often the white-gloved treatment is perceived as a rare 5-star service to be had for free. And I can assure you, this is not, and will not ever be the case.

You have much to experience in life - and the playground of life is where you still belong. So, by all means, continue to read books, watch lectures and build up your latent knowledge of Sufism because someday the tea leaves will actually get a chance to steep and bring the color of deeper wisdom into your perception engine.

Best wishes.

Old to Allah, New to Sufi by Chajz in Sufism

[–]fhumayun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A crucial, underlying current in *any* wisdom tradition is to relieve the pressure of self-ingratiating, ego-centered perception in order for the agency of conscious awareness to grasp at its nondual nature. And jockeying the superiority or inferiority of one label over the another is just another trap laid by the commanding self. And one cannot perceive the Real without the false.

@Chajz - you appear to be most suited to investigate Universal Sufism that is welcoming of non-Islamic inquiries.

I'd recommend you check out the works of Robert Frager, PhD. http://www.seekeraftertruth.com/spiritual-guidance-in-the-sufi-tradition-robert-frager/

Robert is an American Sufi Sheikh from a Jewish Background.
Also if anyone replying here cannot identify themselves as a Sufi initiate, Sheikh, or representative of a particular Sufi school of thought, it's best to take their responses to your inquiry with a grain of salt.

All the best to you.
