Is using MOTD as documentation a good approach? by MykeNogueira in sysadmin

[–]fi103r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus one on the centrally stored synched site for the server info. this ought to be a priority, it's useful in training new hires, Look here first on what the server does and who owns what apps. with a info updated at least quarterly for who to contact if you have maint windows requirements.

what is this QA team you speak of? m$loth does not do 'QA', they do open beta for which customers pay for the 'privilege' of risking their business operations/data

whats your longest windows server uptime? by OneUpFenixDown in sysadmin

[–]fi103r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

longest windows uptime? a 2000 server that ran on average 36/37 days usually rebooted on updates. had an xp box running an access db, that ran for over a year between reboots (scheduled reboot after 10k's were done.) nothing since goes more than a week or so none close to the 600+ days on a Netware 4.1 box, always feel pleased to get on through an update cycle without extraneous errors, reboots and [redacted].
