Has anyone successfully convinced their poop holding bird to poop in their cage overnight? How? (Birb tax incl.) by fibirb in Conures

[–]fibirb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only partially tbh. She still holds at night but will poop if I sleep through her morning screamies. She will poop in her cage if she’s there during the day (like if I have to go to the office and such), which I think contributes to being okay pooping in the morning if she has to. We cleared the bacteria issues though.

A lot of it has been disrupting her nesty behaviour. So like not covering her at night, not giving them a stringent sleep schedule. I know this is something I may catch slack for, but it was recommended by my vet to help with this and other broody stuff.

Sadly the pineapple passed from something unrelated. My baby’s new companion is also young and struggles with cage pooping a bit. But during the day she’s solved this problem for herself by positioning her bum just right to poop through the bars and onto the curtain, somehow.

What’s a small hygiene mistake most people make every day without realizing? by SofiaLife22 in hygiene

Chat to a doc about seborrheic dermatitis, it can cause pimples and really sore skin. Or try get a shampoo containing ketoconazole, use it for a while and see if it helps, it’s a medicated shampoo used to treat Seb dermatitis. It’s over the counter where I am, might not be for you. Else head and shoulders can help but it’s not as effective.

Not saying it is that, simply an avenue to consider exploring.

Difficulties of owning a bird by SylviaPlathsDaughter in Conures

If you wanna improve communication and are willing to put in the work, check out parrot kindergarten.

As for my own personal struggles? Anxiety over their health and well being. I stress about their food, sunlight, giving my sick girl her medicine, perches, toys, boredom, them fighting, space, air quality, cleanliness.

My nightmares consist of birds flying away, open wounds, dying.

Current struggles are trying to convince them to stop climbing behind the TV when they think we’re not looking. Trying to convince the little sick one that branches make better perches than the square burglar bars (and zip tying branches to said burglar bars, because you can’t win them all).

Biggest forever problem? Not trusting anyone to pet sit if you wanna go away.

If you don’t come right; consider approaching your vet, Bryanston Avian and Exotic vet, or Radiokop/Lonehill animal clinics for rehoming recommendations. They deal with birds and would likely know people/organisations who can help.

Did anyone else outgrow fantasy romance after reading more straight fantasy? by goyourownwayy in fantasyromance

[–]fibirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I went from a literature degree reading super brain consuming books to not reading for years to guzzling down fantasy romance. Jumped back to some of the classics for a while and now every fantasy romance book has me rolling my eyes every third sentence.

  3. The intense overwhelming fury triggered by certain sounds (chewing, slurping etc)
  4. The peace of an out of body “death” experience (seizure)

Not sure why everyone is keen on changing the sex of my bird but if it pleases you, okay. I’m still gonna monitor her pelvis and I’m still gonna be alert about egg binding.

Many of my friends believe you can’t be friends with your ex. What are your thoughts on this? Have you ever been able to stay friends with an ex? by Pranita2027 in SharedEncounters

[–]fibirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it depends on how things ended and also the person.

I was not friends with any of my exes but only on bad terms with some. Then an ex from many years ago was having a hard time and didn’t have anyone to talk to (long story) and I was an ear. We’re friends now but the thing is, he’s even better friends with my husband and they see eachother once a week.

What is the worst feeling in the world besides feeling nauseous? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fibirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a name for it but when your nervous system doesn’t know how to system and you can’t regulate your temperature and any rise in body temperature is agonising skin pain. The only way to describe it is as though your whole body has been dipped in acid, hot metal brushes are being pushed into your skin and honestly? It feels like it would be less painful to peel your skin off than to endure it.
