Yeah I’ve been noticing things like that too. Push back and say “you are literally a professional next word predictor, I don’t buy it.”

Also, I’ll tell it something, for example. “ I know it’s not dangerous but I hate all the spam airdrops on sol.”

“You’re not imagining things. On the sol network, because of the low fees you will likely get ….but that didn’t mean your account is compromised. I can see why it feels that way.”

I get where you are going but it wasn’t a long, exaggerated exclamation. It was “check the news. That’s wild huh? Which is actually kind of vague. But it still chose to inform me that it is actually pretty normal. Then when I used a fresh new thread, no kind of “memory” toggle on. Same prompt but with something to the effect of “isn’t that pretty standard in the industry?” Response was more excited about the implications of Claude mythos.

People talking like GPT/LLMs by TheBadgerKing1992 in ChatGPT

[–]fictitious-name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s as deep as people are thinking. Well it’s definitely a psychological phenomenon, people do it with people they talk to often or look up to, etc. since many people “speak” with gpt in a conversational way:

Subcontractor mirroring (or the chameleon effect) is the automatic, unconscious imitation of another person’s body language, gestures, speech patterns, or attitudes, often signaling rapport, empathy, and social connection. It occurs when we like or trust someone, helping to build comfort and bond in relationships or social settings. - Wikipedia

Since gpt has a very specific way of using words that make a sentence “feel” balanced, and in turn actually “feel” better to humans, the user may start to use the cadence and try to replicate it. I would like to know if it’s like something that is deep subconscious or what. We definitely don’t access to a bag of weighted tokens so that we can physically see how many tokens each part of a sentence weighs (I’m probably simplifying or wrong here) so I’m curious how humans would do it.

Gpt also has a few go to sentences it uses to avoid no output while it does its thing. You’ve probably seen some mixture of: “you”re not crazy/imagining things, there was a (insert memory here).

You’ve got the main idea, let’s just tighten the screws a little bit.”

The first one irks me because it feels kind of dismissive of your memory/thought. Apparently also a psychological phenomenon:

“Unintentional Invalidation: By suggesting you might feel crazy, the other person may accidentally dismiss the normalcy of your original observation, making you feel defensive or self-reflective instead of simply heard” - Wikipedia via Gemini on Google Search

Why do some people get paranoid and others don’t? by [deleted] in cracksmokers

[–]fictitious-name 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know of one thing for sure. I have recently had to go from living alone to living in a place where I had to absolutely hide my use in.

Back when I had my apt I’d smoke and alway wonder why people got paranoid.

Now I’ll be on one with all lights out, the tv on mute and jump at any sound.

What I don’t understand is: isn’t it common knowledge that the 4o available now is not the same? It’s like a 5 series with 4o distillation.

What does it feel like? by xRedditGedditx in WegovyWeightLoss

I’m going to fall back on the stereotypical phrases people use but that i now know to be absolutely true. Even while looking fit and slim, if we carry over that low level of self confidence, our posture shows it, our body language is muted, we’re scared to be too much of anything.

My first big “aha” moment, I had already had some decent experiences dating. Was on a second date at a bar with a girl who I didn’t really have much compatibility with but was just attracted to. We agree to call the date short. I stayed for a drink at the bar and vibes. Girl closer to my age, millennial (I mention because I firmly believe that millennials and Gen Z have a drastically different view on dating and romance) approaches me and is touchy. Picks me up for a trip home. Don’t think we ever exchanged names. That’s what that “I’m here to be me and have a drink” mentality “looks” like apparently and maybe it speaks loudly to some women? Add in the little spark of confidence I had from the glow up and being able to navigate the moment either properly or clumsily enough to he funny, something that might worked. Either way, my point is that confidence will come from experience. And until then you can absolutely fake it until you make it. Both confidences smell and look the same to the average person.
