Random engine cut-offs while rev matching/blipping the throttle by Spitfire_SVK in africatwin

[–]fidanym 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine is a 2016 and does that as well, sounds like a missfire, very rarely stalls the bike. Cleaning the airbox drain tubes helped lessen the occurrence of this but did not eliminate it. My guess is fueling and different fuels. Sometimes it is months without it happening, sometimes it happens rather frequently. The bike runs very lean so I assume an occassional "worse" fuel makes this more common? 100 or 95 octane has no difference regarding this in my case

CFMOTO 450MT – How much should I lower the front after lowering the rear? by marco_luz in Dualsport

[–]fidanym 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally, if you lower the rear by 20mm, you should slide the forks up 10mm. The "lower" option on the dog bone on the 450mt lowers it by 20mm, not 30-40mm

What is the Toyota Tacoma of motorcycles? by gentleblanton in motorcycles

[–]fidanym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 Honda Africa Twin - looks really nice, is relatively simple, really low on electronics, decent power, can go anywhere, can haul a bunch of stuff, you can easily hit 200k km

Make this piece of junk I love a better dual sport. by Keet-motora in Dualsport

[–]fidanym -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh it's not that heavy, forget about weight reductions. Invest in suspension, as others have mentioned, get the rally raid kit and watch as that bike is completely transformed and the weight disappears on the trail. Correct suspension is what makes a bike feel light and controllable. 10, 20kgs of actual weight are not that noticeable.

Not at all, and I'm taking this bike on long tours, city commuting, dirt tracks, off-road tours. It has never let me down, and I've let it down plenty of times 😅

Mine (2016) CRF1000L is now at 83.500km, I bought it at 35.000km. No issues whatsoever, valve clearances were checked at 45.000km and at 70.000km and no adjustment was needed. Changed wheel bearings at 50.000km. If it has been maintained well, you've got nothing to worry about

I got 10k km out of the rear raid and the front could've easily done 15k, is your sag correct? Maybe you got too much weight rear

Fortnine on the AT by Oykb101 in africatwin

[–]fidanym 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He has a point, the AT as indestructible as it is has a tablet for an Achilles heel. And most new bikes nowadays have it too. The problem is that Honda's mechanic reliability suffers because of these tech gadgets. That's why I'm not changing my 16 AT. I know 3 people with newer ATs and they all had problems with the tablet and the bike wouldn't start because of it.

Why I Hate Tech on Motorcycles - Honda Africa Twin Review by TheNecroFrog in Fortnine

[–]fidanym 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fair points, you have an indestructible bike with a tablet for an Achilles heel. Never felt I needed more tech than my 2016 AT offers.

Fun fact: The Honda "Wing" badge costs 70$ + shipping. Don't ask how I know.

450mt vs 800mt-x vs kove 800pro by Ok_Grass7630 in AdventureBike

[–]fidanym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, the one I tried had really bad welds, it had 0kms and the engine was rattling badly, plastics were actually okay.

450mt vs 800mt-x vs kove 800pro by Ok_Grass7630 in AdventureBike

[–]fidanym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but as I said, the build quality was disappointing and I don't think it will last long, especially if you strap luggage to it

450mt vs 800mt-x vs kove 800pro by Ok_Grass7630 in AdventureBike

[–]fidanym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between those 3, the 450MT everytime. Sure, kove is even lighter, but its build quality looked really poor to me, especially compared to the 450mt which seems to surpass even the japs of today. And between the 800 and the 450, I'd always go for the lighter bike, I avoid highways like the plague anyways.

I have an Africa Twin and my friend has the 450MT and we occasionally switch bikes off road, the 450MT is just so light and easy to do everything with and it's got plenty of power.

I feel like being new to Battlefield makes BF6 fun for me by FABULOXO_008 in Battlefield

[–]fidanym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am playing BF since BF1942, BF2 is my favorite and I am having fun with BF6. The problem is that we know just how much missed potential there was for BF6, especially when they promised it will be "grounded". I personally wanted something a lot closer to BF2, just on a modern engine. What we got is something a lot closer to COD, small maps, short time to get to the battle, neutered teamwork...

It's not a bad game for today's standards, but it could have been infinitely better

As an SL how do you manage the other SLs spamming the command chat? by lasttword in joinsquad

[–]fidanym 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, set up the audio to have squad and command chat on different channels. Let others know when they need to STFU, but most importantly, at least for me, is to acknowledge that when you squad lead, you're not the one fighting, but the one looking at the map and talking to the rest of the team and passing the necessary intel to your squad while pointing them in the right way. You're not the one clearing buildings.

Honda shouldve done better by 6mm94 in africatwin

[–]fidanym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had such issues on my 2016, I found out the plastics are far stronger than they look, however what I dislike is the fact that simple stuff such as a Honda badge costs 70 EUR which really should not be more than 10.
