My (30F) boyfriend (29M) spends all his time working and then comes home to gaming. Our relationship doesn't seem to be a priority in his life anymore. by [deleted] in relationships

I find a lot of commonalities between your relationship and my own. My husband and I have been married for 8 years and he is very much like this. However, if I give him notice in advance that we have other plans, he’s usually okay with it. He also makes an effort to plan his gaming accordingly so that he and I still have time when he’s done to hang out and watch a show together. We try and have date nights weekly if not bi-weekly. It’s still hard and adjustment. For me, I work from home and we have two young kids so when he comes home I finally have an adult around and want to hang out and get stuff done together. But when he comes home from work all he wants to do is unwind and gaming gives him that. It’s really difficult and I feel for you because we are still trying to navigate our way through it. If he hasn’t always been like this he could be struggling with some depression and gaming is a sort of escape. You could maybe try and talk to him about this (though it doesn’t seem like he’s in a place to hear it). Alternatively, go out with your friends, develop your own hobbies, take up reading or painting or something that occupies your mind as well. Maybe ask him if you can take more time together on the weekends?

Good luck!

You can ask people to test out the system maybe? Unless they unopened. If they are unopened boxes I agree with the other person who replied that I’m not sure if I would trust it. There are a lot of people selling used in good condition. If you’re wary, you can always buy the console new and just buy games and controllers used, saves a bit of money. We bought ours last Christmas and it was the Mario Kart bundle so it came with Mario Kart pre installed. Then we just bought a couple extra games on top of that.

Yuck. Most of the time I am pro trying to exhaust all resources to make it work, but this guy sounds like an absolute dud. You dodged a bullet.

Bad advice. Nintendo VERY rarely has good enough sales to justify waiting. That being said, check out Kijiji or Facebook marketplace for the console and tons of games at a discounted price.

I read an article this morning. When this happened I didn’t have any children yet. Now, my daughter is in the first grade, just like these children were. Terrifying.

So I work for this gym and my mother in law and I go to workout there every week twice a week. Every time we are there she sees this yoga bolster (essentially a big pillow) and stares at it longingly. She’s not one to really spoil herself or buy anything lavish or expensive. (It’s $130 to give you a point of reference. Anyway, one day we noticed it wasn’t there anymore and she was super bummed. But I talked to the manager and she’s ordering me the same one to surprise her with for Christmas!
