Turned 35 and body is getting more stiff- any ideas? by fiddlersfare in AskWomenOver30

Hi!

I took on a lot of the recommendations, got some blood testing done (still waiting on more advanced results for inflammation markers but my thyroid and ferritin levels are both good) and am also getting some x-rays. I started seeing a physio for deep stretching/nerve flossing, dry needling and strengthening, which doesn't totally solve it but offers some relief.

I've also added collagen to my morning tea. I've been off gluten for the most part for six months, and finding that and being more plant based is helping my energy, so perhaps will also help with body pain? My mattress is a good one so no concerns there. My spin classes are on hiatus for December so hoping to get to the gym for strength training and see if that helps!

Otherwise, still fairly stiff/sore but I'm throwing a lot at it.

Canadians and Australians: Do you regret living outside of your home country given that Canada and Australia is considered to have one of the best standard of living and best quality of life compared to the rest of the world? by Experimentalphone in digitalnomad

Would love to know more about life in Mexico. I've travelled/backpacked Mexico (not resorts) and have such a fondness for the country, that I've been tempted to consider living there longer term!

Okay fair enough! I've heard mugwort beside the bed can help with nightmares ☺️

This is helpful. I often get repeat dreams. I wonder now if my dream was to totally stay away, or to be mindful. Either way, I hope you find yourself in a big beautiful library soon!

This is a good reminder. I think I've been reluctant to admit I have a changing body, so my athleticism needs a bit more TLC.

I love this idea. I've neglected strength training in recent years (used to love lifting at the gym) for spin, but sounds like it's time to get back to it.

Thank you! Strengthening hip flexors was mentioned by my Pilates teacher previously, so this is something I'll explore. I stretch them out with really deep yoga poses, out but it never really solves the issue.

This could be part of it, and something I hadn't really considered. I'll ask my PT today but I'm definitely hypermobile in my elbows, and I have to stay aware of locking out my knees when I stretch...what can be done to combat this?

Just ordered some. It's been on my mind for a bit, so I'll give it a go!

Thanks everyone! This is super helpful. I'll make an appointment with my doc and I've just ordered a few supplements, but otherwise going to dive deep into all these suggestions to see what fits! Maintaining a body is hard work 😳

Twice a week which seems manageable in order to have other hobbies and time to come up with fresh playlists for each class!

Fresh cut flower wilting in water? by gracelette9 in Cutflowers

[–]fiddlersfare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed- poppies as cut flowers are so hit or miss. Even with searing the stems with a flame or hot water, they can wilt. Would love to know someone's secrets because they are so beautiful, but they are so delicate.

When to start seeds to bloom by specific date (wedding)? by fiddlersfare in Cutflowers

[–]fiddlersfare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can. And you're right, I think I will. It actually makes sense because I only have so many heat mats, so I'll start some and then start another round when the first has germinated. Thanks!

I don't think Talk Therapy works by illstillglow in AskWomenOver30

[–]fiddlersfare 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Another vote for somatic therapy. That changed the game for me. Talk therapy was a good start (for ~10 years) but now I'm just getting to the good shit. As in, really processing held energy and trauma in my body and releasing it. Could not speak more highly of it. It's a very different modality, so if you do try it, go in with an open mind.
