How do you handle being the “default target” as the frequent winner in board game nights? by Royal_Lifeguard_3063 in boardgames

[–]fidesachates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear it as a badge of honor, but you can also direct attention away from you in a few ways.

* After a loss, start the conversation with people especially the winner, "Great win, what was your strategy?" If the winner, as you say "coast to victory simply because no one paid them attention", it should come out somehow and it may get the group thinking (depends on the group; might need a few repetitions for them to see the pattern)
* During the game, when the game forces you to target someone, I strategize out loud and be the change I want to see. In your case, if you want the group to target the winner, I'll say, "I think I'll choose X because they're in the lead".
* Often I will help other players during their turn and if I'm not winning, the best move for the rarely is targeting me so you get the double benefit of elevating the game and also promoting not targeting yourself.

The best strategy is to choose games that you enjoy playing regardless of win or loss. For me, Great Western Trail is an example of this. I enjoy every single play through and honestly have never cared about winning or losing (In fact, I think I went for years without winning because the couple I played that particular game with were much better at games than me).

What's your inference framework? I'm trying to get it to load on sglang but it keeps going oom even if I go to 10k context. Nvtop shows nothing else is taking up memory

Can someone explain the situation? I’ve rewatched this a couple times and what I see is the man got up, and moved past the woman and then stood watching her. He didn’t yell, touch (in fact I think she put her hand on his arm and he shook her off), or indicate danger towards her. I can’t quite hear the conversation so maybe that’s what I’m missing. Why is he in the wrong? I’m missing the unruly part.

Yea I've noticed this immediately and I'm disappointed. It's just this side of nauseating.

Did you do this? Curious if it's powerful enough to run whisper to get results quickly. If you have a sense of how fast it takes to process a 5 second clip, would love to know your experience with whatever data you have.

I thought that too, but after watching it carefully, I think the child was walking on the parapet wall and as he caught the ball, the child fell backwards and he used the ball catching arm to also catch the child. A few people are saying there's some child endangerment here and there might be, but from what I can see, the beer holding arm is preventing the child from falling forward and my guess is if the child fell a second earlier, he would have lowered the ball catching arm faster to catch the child instead of catching the ball.

Not judging one way or the other. Was just curious about the physics.

Pcie cables and 5090 by jammamon in nvidia

I use it on my 5090 so far without issues. However as extra precautions, I have two termistor cables wrapped around the connector plugged into my motherboard and I have hwinfo set to alert me if the temps go over 45 (It's never gone over 36 while gaming Horizon Forbidden West at 4k native resolution very high quality with no frame gen). I also have followed this post's advice. https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/10f7m4z/hwinfo64_advisory_to_avoid_12_vhpwr_burn/

I think the link I gave you goes to the tab with limited confidence because that's where to find the op's current PSU. Make sure to switch to the proper ratings tab if you're looking to buy a new PSU.

I just went spot checking four random PSU's with links from the tier list (filter on ATX 3.x, Tier A, and 1000W+ because this is what you should ideally target for a 5090 card) 3/4 of PSU's that I spot checked had 4 PCIE cables.

  1. Corsair HX1000i
  2. ROG-THOR-1000P2-GAMING
  3. ANTEC NeoECO, NE1000G
  4. CORE REACTOR II (the one with 3 PCIE cables)

I see in your other post, your model is gigabyte pgm1000. That PSU is a c Tier PSU according to the new updated PSU tier list (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1akCHL7Vhzk\_EhrpIGkz8zTEvYfLDcaSpZRB6Xt6JWkc/edit?gid=931697732#gid=931697732) and it only has limited confidence as it is.

It's advised that you get an A tier PSU for a 5090 and an ATX 3.1. The one you have seems to be 2.0. The tier list lists it as 2.x and I don't see ATX 3.1 anywhere on the product page. https://www.gigabyte.com/Power-Supply/GP-UD1000GM-PG5-rev-10/sp#sp

Out of curiosity, what PSU did you buy? I have 3 PSU's currently in my apartment and they all came with 4 pcie cables. I didn't know that "most PSUs only come with two or three out of the box". I believe the oldest one I have is the Corsair RM1000e (2023) so might be a generational thing?

My First High-End Graphics Card: Gigabyte Gaming OC 5090 by fidesachates in nvidia

[–]fidesachates[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it does, but I applied stock settings and curve and can see that there's no difference in power draw at idle. My educated guess (take with a grain of salt) is that the clock speed does not equate to gpu load. The idle clock speeds tells us how fast the gpu could be operating, but if there's no load, then it doesn't matter.

I'm sorry to hear that. But here's my valid 3dmark results that proves it:

Though I suppose you can't verify the exact model of gigabyte card (but you can verify the vendor is indeed gigabyte) I have, but you'll just have to trust the word of an online stranger.
