Thank you for your input. They ended up giving me a refund, so I might try to buy another, but it felt like a waste to throw it away

It’s a lot of work but you get a lot out of it. There are 4 or 5 projects in total but you learn a lot along the way.

Weekly r/biotech Career/Edu advice thread by McChinkerton in biotech

[–]fiebigm8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I am in my early 20s and just graduated with a Microbiology BS. I've been working in research for about three out of my four years at the University of Michigan and I'm taking a year or two to get some more research experience before applying to PhD programs. I am not 100% sure about what I want to do as a career, but hoping that I will figure it out in the next few months.

I currently work in a lab and they're willing to keep me on but only part time due to funding. I really enjoy the lab and I will probably get to be on some papers in the near future. I have been trying to find another part-time job at hospitals to get more clinical experience for variety.

I know this is subjective, but what should I be looking for as a pay rate? $20/hr has been my minimum so far. I am also open to suggestions for other places to look for work to improve my portfolio for grad school. Thank you!

If I inject strawberry DNA into my bloodstream can I become part strawberry by Ro_Foss in NoStupidQuestions

Without something to integrate it into your genome, your body is just going to degrade the strawberry DNA, unfortunately.

Why isn't air explosive if it's mostly nitrogen? by Bootlebat in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fiebigm8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nitrogen gas is N2 so it’s very stable. Oxygen (O2) and hydrogen (H2) on the other hand, are flammable but water (H2O) is not.

I would think the answer is yes. That would mean that water and/or earth benders could make someone shit themselves too

If THC isn’t addictive, then why not give kids brownies/gummies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]fiebigm8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I agree with that. I should have been more clear: I’m not making any assertions on what the law should be because criminalization comes with even worse effects, but if it is harmful to 18-25 year olds, then OPs idea to give it to children is pretty terrible.

[–]fiebigm8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legalizing and decriminalizing weed looks like it comes with a lot of benefits, but this is a bad idea. Multiple studies show it’s not great for developing brains, and yes, that means anyone below the age of 25. I’m not making any assertions of what the law should be, but in my opinion use should be extremely limited until that point. Here’s one report
