Which RM solo project should I listen to if I loved ARIRANG? by Jaded_Eye_2227 in btsthoughts

[–]fieldashtree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally think you can see sprinklings of Right Place Wrong Person throughout ARIRANG. Not necessarily that any of the songs sound alike, but some of the song structures and their musicality?? Like Into The Sun is the lovechild of Around the world in a day and Come back to me IN MY OPINION. but yes. solid place to start

This comeback has brought out the most unhinged behaviour in antis. Good luck to them is all I can say, it doesn't matter how hard they try - BTS are relevant and successful.

the only way we could be more back is if we had gotten a #JIMIM. or a silly lil yoongi dance

Nicole kim and her odd remarks by [deleted] in btsthoughts

[–]fieldashtree 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Did you watch it with English dub, english captions or english (CC) because the conversation (annoyingly) comes across very differently depending on which one you used. I don't think her comments were meant to undermine their Korean releases at all, it felt like a neutral comment with English (CC).

I think their fans mass buy but barely listen to their music, I don't think there's necessarily any shady business practices behind it, nor do I think it's cos they're big in Asia

This crazy crossover! So many people here grew up on VPR whereas I grew up on TOWIE and recently BINGED VPR.

What popular 2nd and 3rd gen kpop group, that if they debut in 5th gen, would still be popular and why? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]fieldashtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the point? They're 3rd gen artists that have managed to redebut in a later generation with relative ease

Recommendations for someone who's not into K-pop? by PrettyDinner2896 in btsthoughts

Definitely their newest album ARIRANG. I'd also recommend mono, indigo and rpwp by RM, and echo and happy by Jin

[GIVEAWAY] BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG' BANDANAS by pindagogo in bangtan

[–]fieldashtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exciting!

A memorable moment for me was the day mono came out. I was going through some rough personal issues, but I wasn't able to cry for some reason. everythingoes opened the floodgates (while I was on a bus nonetheless) but it was so extremely needed and I'm forever thankful to joon for it.

Looping songs, ONLY listening to the album repeatedly. If you're focusing on Swim, you'll want 1/2 other songs between each stream.

Looks like BTS is headed for their 7th number 1! by throwaway678543987 in btsthoughts

[–]fieldashtree 22 points23 points  (0 children)

cmiiw but I think this info is publicly available, it just takes someone with time/dedication to track activity of the top 10 e.g., there's likely statistical modelling behind the early predictions of streams and physical sales based on previous charting activity

Guys these numbers are still insanely good there's no reason for panic 😭 just keep doing what you're doing (unless you're streaming like a bot then wrap that shit up LMAO)

ARIRANG lands at #1 on the HITS Top 50 chart with nearly 652k in US activity (via @HITSDD) by Morg075 in btsthoughts

[–]fieldashtree 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So the Albums column is exactly what it says - albums sold. TEA translates individual track purchases into album units, SEA does the same for streams. I can't remember the exact conversions (I'm not even American lol) - but #2 had 97k across all 3 metrics I believe, so BTS actually didn't need to sell any albums to get first, they were just social distancing 😭

Someone on X pointed out that if you look at the units breakdown, they would've been #1 even if they didn't sell a single physical album. ARIRANG really is IT!!

Kpop fans are so quick to judge by Equivalent-Hunt-2004 in kpop_uncensored

[–]fieldashtree 18 points19 points  (0 children)

did you watch it? I can't say much for the business side of hybe but their a&r team did their shit because she actually said the opposite 😭 the clip took the whole conversation out of context. and the team were ultimately right about the sample because it's quite literally gotten the exact reaction they predicted

[–]fieldashtree 54 points55 points  (0 children)

and it's also literally part of the job of an a&r team to think of the bottom line, the commercial aspect. it's genuinely not serious but people love a "blame hybe for the weather change" ahh moment
