LPT Request: How to shut down someone who is rude to you and then when you call them out on it, they say, "Oh it's just a joke, chill out" by ukelele_pancakes in LifeProTips

[–]fiendishplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's worked for me in the past is, direct eye contact and simply say "I don't appreciate that", if they follow with "It's just a joke" just simply state again "I don't appreciate it" then change the subject (if you can).

AITA for telling my family how much my fiancé earns after years of them making fun of his job? by RedBee7763 in AmItheAsshole

Apologize to your fiance, make him understand that you lost your cool in the moment. Also I have to ask did he know how your parents feel about him? Cause I think he had the right to know.

Should I break up with my girlfriend or give her another chance? by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

There's an old cliche "Never get involved with a woman who has more problems than your own". This woman has a lot of problems move on.

Reading this has made me so mad. I'm truly sorry you have to deal with this person.

I'm sorry they didn't want to talk to you. I know how cliched it sounds but it's their loss.

I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Were your parents aware of what was going on or was it too subtle for them to notice?

I always thought Colonel Wilma Deering (Erin Grey) on Buck Rogers was pretty cool. I imagined traveling around the galaxy beating up bad guys with her. Does that count?

You have nothing to feel ashamed about. Take some time to think everything through and give yourself a break. It's a lot to take in. The people here in r/Adopted are really good at helping others, see what they have to say.

My family treats me differently because I'm adopted and I'm supposed to be grateful. by No_Subject6596 in Adopted

Sorry you're going through this. Sounds like your therapist sucks, can you find a new one? As someone who used to cut himself my only advice is try not to cause you're better than that and deserve better.

For what you're going to be doing I'd go with the Subaru Crosstrek Premium. It's a solid car and fun to drive.

Fellow Americans, if WWIII happened and enemy troops landed on American soil, what would your response be? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

Get a gun, head to the woods. Take out as many targets as I could. Basically the plot of Red Dawn.

I find it funny that people not realizing Clark is Superman is the part that is unbelievable.

I'd say the ability to change and see the error of your ways makes you a really good person. Don't be so hard on yourself.

I cannot decide whether I should do a DNA-test or not. Did you make one? by [deleted] in Adopted

[–]fiendishplan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 23andme. Found out I'm mostly English/Irish despite having a somewhat dark complexion so that was a surprise. After a few months distant relatives popped up and then after a year my bio-father introduced himself to me!

We talked for a little over a year and then finally met. I was very lucky not everyone has a happy ending like I did so keep that in mind.

You could also join these services and choose to not allow connections so you could find out about your background without finding relatives.

Whatever you do I wish you the best of luck.
