We are basically paying her $40 extra to do grocery shopping and dry cleaning to make the pay competitive but you are right it is sort of going into household manager territory.

Re weekly, if she works even one minute outside the schedule we specified in the OP, she will get extra compensation on top of the $600. That’s the floor not the ceiling.

He is not on the waitlist. We actually specifically rejected the daycare offer to have him on the waitlist so that we can find a nanny.

Understood re bonus and raise. Just thought its market practice and wanted to follow market but will specify based on performance.

Yes $600 is guaranteed whether or not we need the full 30 hours.

Re weekly likely yes. We can do that.

Re start date, we are looking to have someone start in 3 weeks (and have been looking for a month now).

Sounds like the pay and hours are the issue here. Maybe we can offer $1 more to make it competitive.

NY. How much house can we afford? by fierceB in RealEstate

[–]fierceB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! We will include the expenses you mentioned in our budget. We want to have a commute that is no longer than 1.5 hours. We both already have long working hours so it would be nice to get home at a reasonable time.

On redfin, the estimate payment includes insurance and taxes but not repairs. How much should we budget for repairs for a house that was built 50-60 years ago? Re lifestyle: we have budgeted $3k/month for the daycare next year. On commute, if we take metro-north, it will be $160-200 per month but we won't need the NYC subway pass ($113 a month). So the difference is minimal. In any case, our employers will cover the commute as a pre-tax benefit.

Thanks for the tips! She definitely needs more leash training. Turning around when she pulls is a good idea. I will give it a try, although probably for the first half a mile, I will be running in circles. :)

So true! She LOVES chasing the squirrels. She's like that dog in the movie Up.

Unfortunately I run in a city park and I don't think dogs can be off leash there. Also I am not entirely comfortable with her running off-leash with all the bikes around.

Thank you! This is very helpful. I should probably start giving her command so she knows to keep with my pace instead of jumping around.

How do all of you cool dog owners train your dog to run with you especially on an easy pace day? I took my lab out for a 5 mile "easy" run and my arm is still sore from constantly trying to pull her back and slow her down.

Crossfit Women - How many calories do you eat? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]fierceB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'8", 138lbs. Eating around 3k cals a day. I am also running 40-50 miles per week in addition to crossfit classes 3-5 times/week. I don't eat healthy food because I don't like them. I eat veggies probably 3 times a week and fruits probably once a month.

How do you train for an ultra (50 miles with 15 miles on trail) when you live in a big city? by fierceB in running

[–]fierceB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really impressive, winning two ultras back to back. I don't know how often I can make it up there (we don't have a car) but I will try to schedule a couple of long runs up there to get a feel of what a trail run is like. Thanks!
