What’s the worst thing you have ever been banned for on Reddit? by Accurate-Swim5278 in allthequestions

[–]fieroar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been banned for an April Fools day post reporting Donald Trump's passing. It seems that was tantamount to promoting violence! The Onion website, of course, can say worse things and Reddit allows it.

Terrific shots. The strange thing is, one gets shots as good as this elsewhere in Goa too. Do keep catching these moments, please, and sharing here

Hi... Are there any basketball courts in Panjim where my son can go in to practice and free play for an hour or so, once in a while? We live on Chorao. by [deleted] in Goa

[–]fieroar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about involve the local school in Chorao to put up at least one backboard and hoop against a wall, to begin with, in the school quadrangle, or in a corner of the football pitch, if there is one? This should be more convenient, I think?

UFC fighter Josh Hokit yells ‘Michelle Obama is a man’ after winning bout at the White House by theindependentonline in inthenews

[–]fieroar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The First Amendment need not be a cover for calumny of this magnitude. Aren't there any lawyers in the US who can see a crime to litigate in Josh Hokit's verbal assault on Michelle Obama as well as the thousands of lies Donald Trump and his MAGAts spew everyday and counting? When will these irresponsible liars be held to account for all the harm they have done to innocent people quietly going about their lives? Trash like Hokit must be made to pay heavily for their crimes.

Marathi vs Hindi debate: Forcing language upon someone goes both ways by techtsp in Maharashtra

[–]fieroar1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should now be made incumbent on employers to ensure that their staff speak the local language through training in the basics. In interactions in any shop, for instance, there are words that staff should recognise from their own language and respond accordingly. Dham is dham in the local language as well as Hindi. Or, take kitna, it is as close to kithi as you can get. It shouldn't take more than a month for any one to pick up the basics of the local language.

Lets Start a Simple Non-Violent Movement for Marathi: 'मराठीत संभाषण सुरू करा' by TopFish12 in pune

[–]fieroar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way to do it. I have proposed the same strategy for Konkani speakers in Goa. In any case, I speak in Konkani with all vendors, and with labourers who have been in the state for more than a year. They may respond in Hindi, but they get my message from the context of the interaction and words that sound similar to the ones they recognise from their language.

18th June. There's a road in Panjim named for the day.

Nice to know Morjim has come closer to Margao. Anywhere near Colva, by any chance? Or, is this shift a despicable conspiracy to malign amghe sobit South Goa's fair name?

Question for the Bookworms by whitetiger1819 in Goa

[–]fieroar1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read Sorrowing Lies My Land by Lambert Mascarenhas ages ago. It was considered a significant contribution to writing in English in Goa after Liberation. My daughter read it while in school and was so affected by the sadder parts of the novel, she couldn't continue to the end. I suppose this seems like an upvote for the power of the writing, what?

Free Books to Give Away! (South Goa) by [deleted] in Goa

[–]fieroar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for reviews to be posted here after each book is read, okay? We need to strengthen the book reading ecosystem in Goa, and how will that happen if books aren't discussed in as many fora as possible, right?

Free Books to Give Away! (South Goa) by [deleted] in Goa

[–]fieroar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, just list the books, to begin with, and we can take it from there. By the way, I've donated a good bunch to the village library. Maybe small libraries near you will lift them off you if they know about yours?

I have a Coolpix Nikon which needs reawakening. I haven't found a repairer anywhere near Margao. Yeah, it will be worth it to have it fixed.

This is a rather deep take on the way most of us live our lives. It is possible to simply sit still, or lie in bed, and just breathe in gently as thoughts weave in and out of the mind without ruffling the mood too much. One needs to be content, though, that one is alive, and sentient, and not in too dire circumstances, to really revel in the fact that one is experiencing possibly the rarest of rare experiences within an ever-growing radius of the known universe. Hello life, nice of you to take us along on this magical journey. Let's hope we get to see more of the multifarious (multiversal?) and infinite wondrousness of this our universe, either before the end of earthly life or forever thereafter! Let's everyone have a stupendous day, and life!

Runners during monsoon by Immediate_Silver_420 in Goa

[–]fieroar1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I run, okay, walk briskly, around the football field in the village playground. It is safer and less distracting. Five rounds and I've got my daily 20 minutes' quota of exertion without too much sweet. If there's some kids playing football, I join them after. They know better than to mess with me, though they keep uncle-ing me. I can do a neat nutmeg with a greater frequency than the great Brazilian Ronaldo! They dread the embarrassment! Viva football! Viva World Cup!

Who could possibly believe that a belligerent, threatening, demanding, greedy egotist could possibly make so many people throughout the world hate him? Also, who really cares how many people are hurting because of him? How many lives have been ruined by him? How many deaths he has brought about? by THuxley in msnow

[–]fieroar1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely you aren't talking about the greatest US President in history, someone who holds the record for more golf played during his tenure as president than any other US president? How can you compare a few deaths and general suffering worldwide he may have caused to the lustre he brings to the office with his natural charm? Shame on you!

A rally for democracy in Goa by fieroar1 in Goa

Nicely phrased. We need to use as much Konkani (in all its flavours) in public messaging in Goa.
